If collecting by mail is one of your passions, this is your group! Share tips, experiences and current successful mailing addresses. But don't share home addresses unless you're sure the celebrity wants to receive mail there.
i know that feeling chris, i wish i was able to get out and about to different venues but with my health these days, unless the celebs are in my doctors office or hospital i am sol. the cost of mailing out request and sase is getting expensive, and with me not able to work and my wife paying the rent and bills i try to find good email addresses to send off too. i wish the autograph magazine would have a dedicated column for just good email addresses that we could use as an alternate to the mail.anyways good job on the successes everyone, im still looking for mine. have a great week end to all.
I got my listia win of autographs of mills watson who used to play perkins on sheriff lobo and frank bonner who played herb on wkrp in cincinatti. They are made out to wayne but they are nice pieces to my collection anyway! Congrats on your successes russ and hope every one else starts having better luck.
I'm in desperate need of an address for Tim Dunigan ( he played Captain Power in the 80's ) His website is outdated and the e-mail link there is not current.
This week I got autographs of the father-son team of NFL Films, Ed and Steve Sabol. Ed, a 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, was the founder of NFL Films, which has cataloged thousands of hours of footage documenting the history of pro football. Steve, Ed's son, is now the president of NFL Films, and was the innovator behind putting all the great operatic music and commentary behind the highlights being shown. Both are true pioneers of sports cinematography.
this is a great idea russ, i have recently came into a large quantity of baseball cards roughly about 10 -15,000 cards. looking for someone inparticular ill see if i have them, the odds are very good that i do.
Today's mail brought a ttm return from the legendary Terry Funk, a signed album flat of Rocco DeLucca from Swagbucks and signed pics of former GLOW girl Debbie Dallas / Terminator that I ordered!
I got a couple return of return to senders from jeff daniels and mike ditka ttm. At least i got a listia win of a signed golf card from golf pro john cook. Hey russ spread the good luck of ttm autos to the rest of us please?
I got a sweet ttm from actress Claudia Christian today! I sent her a Babylon 5 gaming card that I had listed on Listia, but no one wanted to bid on it, so I sent it out! I'm glad that I did because it came back signed beautifully in blue Sharpie! Claudia Christian 12400 Ventura Blvd. #520 Studio City, CA 91604 I also received a nice signed card of former Michigan Wolverine Terrance taylor via Listia win!
I sent out 5 items to June Lockhart for her to sign last Wednesday (May 11, 2011).nAccording to the tracking I put on it, it was delivered to the P.O. Box number I was given, on Friday. We'll see how soon I get them signed and returned.
Finally got One! i sent an email to willoghby golf club in florida asking for assistance in acquiriong an autograph from Errie Ball, the last remaining member who played in the 1934 inogural masters golf tounament. I received the mail today and was please and disrought.I open the box to find the usual bills sitting smack on top of a large white envelope which was folded in half as well. iwent and satdown inside, throwing the bills onto the coffee table and tearing open this large envelope. there was return address on it and i could see what looked like a newspaper article in it. when i opened it up i found a extremely large trophy to add to mycollection. Mr Ball had copied a large newspaper article from the chicago tribune about that tourny. He signed it in the upper corner, really close to the edge. i wished he would have signed lower. the signature faces a dliemma intrying to keep it safe while framing it at the same time.any suggestions on this matter , i will post some images, they are not that great , this thing was too big for my scanner.
Darrel nice piece...I have a suggestion for you as far as mounting it. Let me take a picture of the opening day newspaper I have from the Pro Football HOF from Aug 11, 1962. I have it in a matted frame with the 1st game ticket and 1st program. They are all mounted with clips as no to damage any of the items. The piece came out very well. I will get an image and post it here hopefully tonight.
thanks david, i appreciate the help. the only concerne i have with mounting and matting is that the signature is so dang close to the edge, if not right at it, that i might block out the autograph in the process. august 11, 1962 huh? three years to the day before i was born, thats cool would love to see it.
All three items are mounted with these clear plastic corners. Also on the bottom of the newspaper and on the sides there is a gray piece with a clear holder that the newspaper is supported on the sides.
Here is one more picture that you might be able to get a better look. Youcould mount that newspaper and you wouldn't have to have anything in that corner. I can see that one of the holders on mine on the left side of the paper has slipped, I will need to get that fixed. I had this done for a total price of about $150 but yours would probably be half that size.
It's interesting how I got this newspaper. I've been collecting HOF game tickets and programs since the late 70's. The game program I knew existed but the only one that I had ever seen was in the HOF library. Then eBay came around and I now have three of them. Most people don't know that it exists because this first game was played a year before the HOF opened.
As far as the ticket goes, it along with the 1970 ticket are the two toughest to find. Why the 1970? I have no idea and know one can tell me why it is so scarce. Back in the beginning they couldn't give these tickets away. I beleive you live in the Cleveland area so you know the stadium only seats about 22K. I found a program with a 1962 game stub about 10 years ago in eBay and there were two of us bidding on it, I one them both for about $185. Then about 3 or 4 years ago, someone from California had the 1962 and 1970 tickets on eBay for a buy now price of $18. I was able to snap up (3) of the 1962's and two of the 70's brand new never used. I could've had more but a guy who lives in CA and one in NY that I know collect I let them know about and they were able to get one for themselves. I had PSA/DNA grade one ofthe 62's and it is a mint 9 and I graded a 70 and it only came out a Ex-MT 6. I traded a 62, 70, and a few other tickets to a guy for a signed Sammy Baugh, Jerry Rice jerseys, a signed Ralph Wilson Jr 8"x10" and some cash.
About two years ago I went on a local radio station where you can buy and sell items and I was looking for HOF game tickets and programs. Someone called me and said they had a box of old programs so I checked it out and offered them $20 for the box. Most of the programs were in ok shape but most of the tickets were either creased or had been torn. I didn't look at the whole box until I got home, that is when I found the newspaper in the bottom of the box as you can see it has a huge crease down the middle but it is an awesome piece. All three are dated August 11, 1962 the day of the first game.
Over all of the years I try to get the programs signed by whoever was inducted that year. Currently I have 160 autographs and about 30 more doubles. The best of all of them is the 1969 cover I bought on eBay for $20, it was advertised as signed by Joe Perry, and Ernie Stautner. It was also signed by Leo Nomellini, and in the scan you could faintly see it had a couple of other signatures. I have received plenty of all three of these guys autographs in person so I knew they were legit, so for $20 I couldn't go wrong. When I got it I almost had a heart attack. The signatures I couldn't make out were of the other two members of the class of 69; Turk Edwards, and Earle Greasy Neale...I figured now way they were real. I sent it to JSA, the were real. The best $20 investment I ever made. lol
Outstanding david, the display is sharp. i have all my autogroahs in binders in a air tight rubberamid box for now. i am working on my disability for a severe back injury that has left me unable to work, and all th epills they give me for pain and breathng and bloodpressure have pack the weight on with now other way of dropping it except surgery. i am scheduled for the 27th of june to undergo that . i will sore for quite awhile and i will never eat a big meal ever again. my stomache will be 1/20the size it is now and my meals will consist of 1-1.5 oz a meal and vitamans out the butt. but if all goes well i will add about ten more year son to my life line to collect and enjoy my family. i would love to make it to yhe hof game one year, was there once when i was a kid. i won the tickets from my paper route i had. that was a great time. but no one was there and i was not into collecting then anyways. i will look into the display cost at our craft store in the area . when i win my disabilty claim and they pay me my back pay for three years or more i am building the new house that will include a sort of autograph gallery where they can be enjoyed by everyone when they come to visit. then i will be happy. thanks again dave.
I dropped off at the post office today a "Lost in Space" poster to June Lockhart. I've had this since the '90s and have been able to get the other cast members to sign it in person over the past 4 years.
outstanding julia, in sadder news.... Randy "Macho Man " Savage Died yesterday after suffering a heart attack while driving with his second wife. Savages Jeep crossed the center line and struck a tree. Savages second wife, lynn Payne was a passenger in the jeep at the time of the accident. lynn suffered minor cuts and bruising. Wrestler Lanny Poffo confirmed the death of his brother, born Randall Mario Poffo, to the website.
The couple, married last May, recently celebrated their one-year anniversary. Savage died of his injuries at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Fla. Both were reportedly wearing seatbelts. Randy was 58 years old. rest in peace macho man you will be missed.
i was extremely fortunate to get both randy"s and elizabeth's autograph in person while working security at the cleveland hopkins international airport back in 1989. they were both very nice and enjoyed signing for me.
I got an autograph from scott krinsky ttm today who plays on chuck. That is very sad to hear about the macho man! It is to bad that he was not in ducted in to the wwe hall of fame before he passed away!
No ttms today. Totally devastated by the loss of Randy Savage. I never had the pleasure to meet him, but I do have a signed 8x10 displayed in my dining room.
I found a autographed cd of country singer gary allan at a garage sale for a buck today. I never met the macho man either but met his brother lanny poffo once and got a signed frisbee by lanny. I also have a book of poems signed by lanny poffo and randy savage that i ordered years ago that will be a cherished memry!
TTM success from Jim Cornette today! I even got a couple of Listia wins in the form of signed cards of Chad Hermansen, Mark Fischer and Jason Williams! I also received a book that was supposed to be signed by the author, but it wasn't! I sent the seller a message to see what we can do about rectifying the situation. I paid a bunch of credits for this and I would expect to get what I paid for.
No ttms today, but I did receive a couple of Listia auctions that I won from very reputable dealers. First, I won a signed Senior League card of Ross Grimsley and I also won a signed picture of the St. Louis Steamers coach Daryl Doran! I also got some base cards of Dan Severn, Bruce Baumgartner, and Randy Couture that I plan on sending out to be signed!
I just received back ttm today the 4 books and 1 DVD I sent to June Lockhart on the 11th (14 days ago), along with a color photo of her from "Lost in Space" that I ordered from her. she signed everything in the areas that I marked, except for one book. She opted to sign the cover, rather than the inside page that I'd marked. Now to await the LIS poster I mailed to her last Thursday.
got a nice success today, sent an email to rod carew at his website and received a great signed photo today. the site that you would have to purchse an image and pay for the personalizing but got this, thanks Mr. carew. great ball player and signer. after careful inspection , i found this to be a pre print, oh well still a great image from a great palyer.
hey russ got your letter in the mail today, you are the best . i love both autographs and the cards are destined to be successful signing. thanks again bro!
Hey Darrell! That's awesome that you got the letter so quickly! I know that your ttms have been slow lately, so I wanted to help you out as good as I could! If you need any help locating addresses for the cards that I sent, please, don't hesitate to ask!
i got an autograph ttm from tom wopat. I was surprised because i have tried many times ttm to get it over the last 5 years. What address did you use to get the shaq auto russ? also congrats on your successes as well russ!
I got autographs ttm from john mellencamp and former wrestler cowboy bob orton today! i also got my order of autographs from elmers nostalgia of actor chris burke who played corky on life goes on and former glow wrestler spanish red.
