I got a couple nice responses ttm today from wrestler hurricane shane helms and my favorite one from steve garvey of the dodgers. Isent a 5 dollar donation to steve garveys camp and was sent two signed cards.A nice day for autos!
I received TTM a 1957 Topps rookie card signature of Jack Butler. Jack played for the Steelers and was hailed as one of the best 75 Steeler players in history. He was just nominated for the Pro Football HOF by the Seniors Committee.
Got a TTM auto from Jimmy Key today...5 business days...will post a pic Monday....BTW...I have asked almost half of these guys to personalize my request to me and so far and only 2 players have done so...I always thought the players would always want to personalize your item so you wouldn't try to resell them...but almost none of them put my name on it...anyone know why ?... Years ago they almost always came back personalized...just strikes me odd...
CEE GEE, I'm just curious why you want it personalized? I've been collecting football HOF autographs for over 35 years. I'm not planning on selling anything, as the size of my collection would attest to that, however, when I'm long gone I'm sure my wife or the other family who have no interest in autograpsh would like to sell them and get a nice payment from all of my years of hard work. Even though they would still make a pretty penney on the majority of my items if they were pesonalized, try to avoid that at all cost if that is possible.
Getting back to your question, nowadays the sports personalities or maybe I should say their "people" require an extra fee for anything other then a signature.
Hey Dave...just like yourself...Iam not planning on selling my items any time soon as well...all items I sent out that I wanted personalized were players I actually already own...out of all my autos I would say 98 percent are NOT personalized...I was just looking to make a small display of personalized items...I just found it odd since years ago almost all TTM autos I would receive were almost always personalized and not by request...but I do agree that some players will probably sign just there name with no personalization or inscriptions because its a freebee....
I got ttm success from Barbara Eden and Gary Payton. Payton only signed one card and didn't return the other card that I asked him to sign for my son, Domenik. Disappointed. He could have at least sent the card back to me.
That's o.k.. It could have been worse, I couldn't have received anything back! Maybe I'll track down another card of him somewhere and mail it out to him for Dom.
I got listia wins of autos of deborah renshaw, johnny benson, ashton lewis jr., and elliot sadler. Ttm auto i got from rosanne cash and one other auto i cannot figure out.
WOW...GOT THIS AWESOME TTM 8X10 PHOTO FROM GOOSE GOSSAGE WITH HOF INSCRIPTION TODAY !!! WHAT A GREAT PIECE...TOOK RUFFLY 3 OR 4 WEEKS...ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I GOT A REALLY NICE RETURN
Today I got through the mail the autograph of former South Carolina quarterback and Dallas Cowboys runningback, Dan Reeves. Dan played quarterback for South Carolina from 1962-1964, and with the Cowboys from 1965-1972, helping guide them to a won in Super Bowl VI. He would go on to become one of the most successful coaches in NFL history, and wound up either playing in or coaching in a total of 9 Super Bowls.
Today I recieved 2 TTMs. One was John Travolta (including a great pic of him dancing with Lady Dianna) and the other was a pair of 8x10 from Tommy Chong. Chong has one of the most unique Autos I have in my collection.
I got a mystery autograph ttm a couple days ago and was wondering if any one could take a look at in my photo album and tell me who it is please? I think it is pat benatar but not sure. Thanks again if any one can help it is in my photo album on here and sorrt i cannot show it on here.
Today's mail brought 2 more South Carolina Gamecocks sports legends: baseball player Bill Landrum, and basketball player Bobby Cremins. Bill was a fantastic pitcher for the Gamecocks from 1978-1980, and was the Gamecocks team leader in wins and strikeouts during his era. He would later go on to post 18 wins, 58 saves, and a 3.39 ERA during his 8 year major league baseball career. Bobby is a college basketball legend. He was the team captain of those great Gamecocks basketball teams from 1970-1972, was named the 1990 Naismith College Coach of the Year in 1990, and has won over 500 games as a college basketball coach.
Hey Russ, what did you get Dick Perez to sign? Is that the famous Baseball Hall of Fame artist? Would like to get his autograph, but not sure what to send. What are your thoughts?
@ Jeffery. Yes, it is the famous artist Dick Perez! I got him to sign an old DonRuss Diamond Kings checklist card that has his picture on it! I think that it is from the 1993 set. I'm not real sure as I don't have the card in front of me at the moment! I know of some collectors that have sent thier favorite DK card to him for a signature.
On the ttm front, I received signed cards from Derrick McKey, Chris Chamblis, and Michael Nutter! Mr. Nutter also included a letter on official Mayor of Philadelphia letterhead! No autopen on this one!
Hey, Russ, Chris Chambliss is a great guy in person. I met him in 2008 at a card show here in Atlanta. I aksed him about that HR in the 1976 ALCS against the Royals, and he said, "Man, I was just trying to survive!"
Today, I got a lousy pre-printed picture from Kevin Youklis. This is in response to a spring training autograph request from 2009! The only bright side is the fact that I got my cards sent back to me along with the pre-print and rubber stamped letter. I'll just list this on Listia to try and get a few credits.
Russ, every Red Sox player I have EVER written to the past few years has resulted in that. Save your stamps. That is what they do for EVERYBODY. Today's mail brought me the autograph of former University of Georgia and NFL player, Matt Robinson. Matt was an all-time great at UGA, tag-teaming with Ray Goff at the quarterback spot in helping UGA win the SEC Championship in 1976, and finish #10 in the country. In the NFL, he played for the Jets, Broncos, and Bills from 1977-1982, passing for 3,519 yards and 18 touchdowns. In 1978, he led the NFL with 16.1 yards per pass completion.
Today, I received ttms from Brad Daughtery and Angela Landsbury. Landsbury returned my trading cards unsigned, but sent a signed 3x5 picture of herself. A little disappointing as I wanted to add those Anastaia cards to my daughters' collection, but at least we got something!
Russ Robinson
Nope. I don't even know who they are.
