I sent an e-mail to author Oliver Neubert to try and get a signed bookplate for my Wind of Life- The Flyers book. He responded and told me that he didn't have any signed bookplates, but he would send me a signed copy of the book if I could answer a few questions. I answered him and sent them back.
This morning, I got this e-mail in my box:
Hi Russ, This might sound stange, but where did you get the third / last book from The Wind of Life series from? What about the main characters in the second book? In the big battle in book three, who is almost killing who and why is he so relieved that he didn't kill him?
Oliver
Here is my response to him.
Oliver.
I received the third book at a book sale put on by the Adrian Public Library. People donate books to the sale and the proceeds go to the library to buy new books, computer programs, etc.
It has been a real pleasure communicating with you, but these questions are becoming quite exhausting. I do enjoy your stories, and I do understand that there are people in this world that write to you that aren't even fans in order to get an autograph, but I don't need to be quizzed on the contents of your books in order to get one.
I will just continue to enjoy reading my unsigned copy and bid you good day.
I sent this TTM and asked that it be made out to my wonderful wife as a gift. Its a ticket stub from a local Jimmy Buffett concert she attended in 2003. I hope the signature is real and not a secretarial. I will have it framed for her.
I got a nice response ttm from linda kaye henning of petticoat junction fame who played betty jo an also after a few years of many requests ttm i finally hit pay dirt and got an awsome response from jeri ryan.
Russ...your making me jealous...I don't think I ever got more then 4 in one day...this is insane...bro you got to get in on the YouTube community of ttm collectors...your truly killing it man....I got some ready to go...but not until all letters are written....Wow !!!!!
Today's mail brought me the autograph of Pro Football Hall of Famer, Lawrence Taylor. Lawrence was one of the best pass rushing linebackers ever, amassing 132.5 sacks and 9 interceptions during his 13 year career. He was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, 1981 NFL Rookie of the Year, 1986 NFL MVP, and helped the Giants win Super Bowl XXI and XXV.
Thanks for the congrats, CEE GEE! I remeber way back a couple of months ago some of the guys on here got their Lawrence Taylor autos, and I didn't get mine back, so I thought it was a goner! It matches up pretty well with other autos, so I am pretty confident it's real.
thats so cool Jeff...I may have to give him a shot...not much of a football collector but LT for free I cant pass up...hes coming to NYC I think in a week or so...he has a sweet auto
Thanks to you too Adam. I still have a ton of sweet cards of her that I have been working on getting signed! I only send about 4 at a time and then wait about 3 or 4 months before I send more. I don't want her to think that I am selling them or anything!
Wow thats awesome Jeffery! How long did you wait for it? Can you post some pics on that LT auto? Also what address did you send it to to get the autograph?
Oliver, I waited 189 days. You have to write to him c/o Pro Football Hall of Fame; I think he likes his privacy and does not want his address known, and I don't blame the guy, so I respect that. Send me a friend request with your e-mail address and I can send you a pic that way. I don't have a scanner to do all that kind of stuff, but let me try a trick with my phone later tonight after TNA Impact Wrestling is over. :) My trick might work on here, too; haven't tried it yet, though.
Today's mail brought me the autograph of former Florida State offensive lineman, Parrish Barwick. Parrish, who is now the county manager for Brantley County, Georgia, was a fantastic center and guard for FSU from 1982-1986, and helped guide all those great FSU teams of his era to the Gator, Peach, Citrus, and All-American Bowl appearances.
Just In from former Dodger Pitcher Carl Erskine. I sent him the blue "1955" card and he gave me the other card. Nice Guy! Thanks Mr. Erskine a great guy to his fans!
Isnt is sad to hear canadian skier Sara Burke died. Was anyone lucky enough to get her? also I sent out requests to Joe Dumars, Rae Dawn Chong, Stella Stevens, Judith Light and Former Bond Girl Barbara Bach so hopefully get 4 out of 5 back
I got an autograph from voice actor cam clarkeand from studio fanmail an autographed picture from jenniffer aniston. A couple of days ago i bought autograph pictures of heather locklear for 15bucks, lee majors 15 bucks, and denver pyle 25 bucks from elmers nostalgia. I thought these were good prices as well!
I got some signed bookplates today. Pat Wood signed 3 and sent a nice card. Erika Marks sent one and Nancy Richardson Ficsher sent a nice note along with her bookplate. Unfortunately, she signed started signing the bookplate across the part where the sticker got cut, so I can't put it in a book or it will look like "Vancy " instead of Nancy! Oh well.
I just ordered the Shop TNA autograph special. 10 signed 8x0s and 3 signed figs for $39.99! I sent them a list of the promos that I already have and asked them to please not send any of the ones that I already have. Hopefully they will read them customer notes!
Someone posted a Mark Gastineau autograph on a Facebook page That I am also a member of and there was some comments made by a couple of guys about how he didn't write anything on the card about it not being for sale. One guy asked if it was for sale on E-bay and the poster sayd no that it wasn't for sale. The other guy said, "I know. It was a sarcastic comment made towards the Gastineau cards posted a week ago or so."
"Not to rub it in" is what the original poster wrote. I felt the need to inform both members that by writing "Not for Resale" on my cards made the cards unique. I don't sell my autographs and I found the inscription humorous. I really can't stand people with an elitist attitude when it comes to autographs!
Got three more from Jeri Ryan today! She sure is a great gal! ;) This time she even paid the postage herself since I seemed to have forgotten it myself. No personalization though...
