Received some great cards this week. First off is Alan Trammell my all time favorite Tiger and two Steve Garvey's. I was pretty lucky on the Garvey. The top of the envelope was ripped open was then stapled shut. Fortunately the cards were not damaged.
Good start to the mailweek. First, I got 3 of 3 from, funnycar driver, Jim Yates. Next, I got 2 of 2 from, former Cleveland Indians catcher, Matt Merullo, and finally, I got a signed trading card from artist david Mack who also included another signed pic and a nice note!
It has been a while since the 'Ole Professor got a bone in the mail, and today I got 2 really nice ones. First, I picked former baseball player, Bob Bailor. Bob played everywhere in the infield, and even pitched in 3 games over his career! Not great at any one thing, but he was good at everything, if that makes any sense. Played with the Orioles, Blue Jays, Mets, and Dodgers. Won 2 World Series in 1992 and 1993 as a coach for Cito Gaston on those great Blue Jays teams. And finally, Bill Stanfill signed a nice 8x10 I sent to him. Bill was an All-American and the Outland Trophy award winner in 1968 at the University of Georgia. He went on to play for the Dolphins in the NFL, and was a big defensive presence on that famed 1972 team that went 17-0.
Today, I got nothing ttm. But my daughter got one of her Monster High cards back signed by, voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal. He does the voice of Deuce in the cartoons! She was pretty excited to get it!
Does anyone have a active address for Mick Jagger, saw him and his family at a art gallery recently, but did not want to bother him whie spending time with his family
I got a sort of success from hacksaw jim duggan ttm. He did not sign my trading card but signed my letter saying sorry kid, hacksaw doesnt live here anymore, and he then says he saw an advertisement that had him performing at the county line bar in melbourne florida which is a hacksaw trademark!
Scored 2 nice autographs that I am very excited about. Got 2 of 2 from former Brave and current Arizona Diamondback, Martin Prado. To me, Martin is one of the best players in all of baseball. Then, I was able to obtain Amar Bose, inventor of the Bose Sound System. 2 great pick ups today!
Jeff, Dale Murphy is one of the classiest, humble, and extraordinarily gifted bnaseball players of all-time. One of my favorite in-person experiences ever...and I have been blessed to have 2 with him so far! The Braves are honoring him again in July, probably because of the Hall of Fame snub he received this year, his final year on the ballot. Hope the Veterans Committee comes through for him.
Jeffrey,
Thanks for sharing. I was and still am very excited to have his auto. It is a huge bummer and disappointment that he is not in the Hall. Like you said, hopefully the Vet. Committee comes through.
I got autographs ttm from musician maureen mcgovern and fred ottoman aka wrestler tugboat from wwe and wcw he was the shocker sent me an awsome autograph picture!
Thank Ryan, I thought it was pretty cool too. Wish he would have signed in silver though, the blue is a bit hard to see with the dark background. But hey, I'm not complaining. Just super happy to get his auto.
Only 2 ttms to report since Saturday. First, Guinon Buford, the first African American in space, signed my Aliens vs. Predators card on the back. This one will go on Listia. Second, former LSU center, Nacho Albergamo signed 2 of 2. Unfortunately, one got smudged.
It's not everyday that you get something in a FedEx envelope from NASA in your mailbox. The Old Professor got a very nice surprise in the mail yesterday. It was from Frank Cepollina, the inventor and innovator of in-orbit servicing of space satellites, not only autographed the index card I sent, but also included an autographed picture of the Huble Space Telescope that he has worked on! This was a really nice surprise from one of the greatest inventors of our time.
Nice professor! I got autos ttm from carlos ashenoff aka conan who wrestled for tna etc., voice actor neil ross, and author dean koontz. Awsome triple threat!
I got an autograph ttm from wwe wrestler hill billy jim. He kept my trading card but signed my note card. At least he signed something for because he usually charges 10 bucks an item to sign.
A couple of great auto's. First one is from Don Shula and the second is from Curtis Granderson. When Granderson played for the Tigers he was my favorite - then he had to play for the Yanks. Darn it. But I have to cheer for him anyway.
3 weeks TTM Requested bookplates from President Bush, Came back with a 8x10 Pretty sure its pre printed or autopen Anyone else get one of these recently?
I received 2 of 2 from Rick Steamboat, 1 of 1 from Medal of Honor winner, George Sakota, 2 of 2 from former WCW superstar Glacier, and 2 of 2 from Lawrence Taylor!
Russ, 2 quick comments - in case you are wondering about the authenticity of the Lawrence Taylor autos, check out the discussion I did in regards to his autograph. My TTM request of LT passed with PSA at the National Sports Collectors Convention this past year. Also, that shot of David Hebner raising The Dragons hand at WrestleMania III take me back! Remember when he and Earl had that "good twin/bad twin" story line back when Andre beat Hulk on The Main Event, even though Hulk had his shoulder up? I had just turned 10 years old 5 days before that match, and I was screaming at the TV, "No! What are you doing?! His shoulder's up! NO!" completely oblivious to the fact that professional wrestling is choreographed! I remember that like it was yesterday. Good times.
Two great success yesterday - Jack Nicklaus & Steve Young. I am super excited about the Young. I was a huge fan of his during his playing days. I am pretty sure they are both authentic but they look almost too "neat." Yet I do not think they are autopenned. Any opinions are welcomed & appreciated.
