If collecting by mail is one of your passions, this is your group! Share tips, experiences and current successful mailing addresses. But don't share home addresses unless you're sure the celebrity wants to receive mail there.
i got an awsome autograph ttm from hall of famer raymond berry. He sent me a signed trading card , postcard, and signed my note cards as well. An awsome response and class act!
Do any of you write to non-sports celebrities or to world boxing champions through the mail? Because so far, what I see here mainly are baseball, football and basketball ones.
Personally, I have never had much luck writing to boxers. Back in the 90s, I did get Ali before, he started sending out the autopens, and George Foreman sent back my trading card unsigned with a small signed pic.
As far as non-sports celebrities, I have had many successes with them, but they are few and far between. Sports stars, especially retired ones, tend to be more apt to sign. In my opinion.
Russ: There is a service out there, I cant remember the name right now, that sells you all kinds of celebrity addresses. The boxing list costs $7.50, but it contains hundreds of hundreds of home addresses and the addresses are mostly accurate. As far as writing boxers, I'd say not to write to the biggest names obviously, but there are several smaller names that are Hall of Famers and that are in the list. If you decide to get the list, go to your local shop and ask if they have the old Kayo Boxing cards. They are the same size as baseball cards and you can send them that for autographs!
Just got back in town from a nice Memorial Day celebration back in my home town, and opened the mail box to find this gem: a 2012 Topps card autographed by Braves pitcher, Brandon Beachy. Brandon is currently rehabing his elbow after Tommy John Surgery last year, and looks to be back sometime after the All-Star break. I think he'll be a good one once he gets everything worked out: he's 12-10, with a 3.07 ERA in 41 career starts over the past 3 seasons.
I received a nice "Thank You" note from original Mouseketeer Bobby Burgess for the birthday gift I sent him. His birthday was May 19. I also sent a birthday card to original Mouseketeer Lonnie Burr, who turned 70 today. He sent me an e-mail yesterday letting me know he received the card yesterday and thanking me for remembering his birthday.
I started the month of June on a good note. I received 5 of 5 from David Stremme, 4 of 4 from Joe Nemechek, 5 of 5 from Jason Mewes and 2 of 2 from The Toy Hunter, Jordan Hembrough.
I, too, was able to join in on the fun today. The 'Ole Professor got a hit from Robert Dennard, inventor of dynamic-random access memory in the area of electronics. Robert was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for this creation. Ever wondered how the radio in your car or your television at home can tune in and save your favorite channels, or how a computer is able to store data and not loose it if the power is cut off? It's all because of this guy and the decades of work he has put in to the development of DRAM. He even included a circuit schematic of his invention along with his autograph. A nice classy touch to put with his autograph, I thought.
Awsome jeffrey! i got autographs ttm from actors billy crystal and ed o neil today! Billy crystal and bette midler are funny in parental guidance inmy opinion!
thanks chad! Sorry to hear about your rts from bruce jennner russ but awsome success on tim allen! What address did you use for jenner? i got a success from him about a week ago!
Thanks to everyone for the kind words! Today's autograph story is one of endurance. 882 days ago, I mailed off a letter to former Redskins and Packers tight end, Clint Didier. I had totally forgotten all about it until I opened an envelope today and found this gem. Never give up, folks! This 2-time Super Bowl champion signed my 2004 Topps Fan Favorites card in beautiful black Sharpie.
I got a 50/50 mail day. One good success and another that was kind of a disappointment. First, I got 1 of 1 from Greg Skrepenak. That was the good one. Next, the disappointment. I wrote to one of our hometown DJs for an autograph and made up these sweet cards for him to sign. Unfortunately, he signed them on the back. I may re-send and have him sign them properly on the front.
First, my daughter, Rebekkah got another Monster High success from Adu Paden. He is the voice of Ghoulia Yelps. Not only did he signed her 3 cards, but he also signed a sketch and a note! Classy! I also got Corie Blount to sign 2 cards and he added an extra!
Jason Marsden signed 4 of 5. He sent back my Nova card unsigned with a note that said: "Voiced the SuperHero Squad version" I knew that, but there are no SHS cards and he did sign the Nermal cards even though he voiced the computer animated version!
Adam, you are killing it with the Pristine Auctions! Might have to check some of that out for myself sometime.
Today's mail brought me one of my childhood favorite baseball players in Dale Murphy. I have been fortunate enough to have met the man a couple of times, but seeing how he is starting to sign TTM now when he use to not do so very much, I had to try and get a couple in. Got back my 1985 Donruss Action All-Stars card, and my 1985 Topps card, from the 1982 and 1983 National League MVP. Super excited about these!
Thanks Jeff . junes action just ended , I ended up with a JSA approved album for The Go-Gos signed by all five and 3 Adam Baldwin signed pics , 2 will be going onto Listia will post pics when i get them , i also ended up with a Signed Fender guitar signed by Hayden Panettiere and others off the Premier Auction site
Ok I got thru the mail autographs from Scott Russell, author of boxing book "Joey" about Joey Giardello, by Delta Airlines CEO Richard Anderosn, and by Jackie Collins. The photos are now on the photo section since 4 some reason I cant get it loaded here.
Awesome start to the mailweek! First, I received 6 of 6 from Andy Kubert. Next, I got 2 of 2 from Wally Wingert and Katie Galaska. Katie also sent a nice note card thanking me for writing! "The Count" Danny Coker signed my post card and Jesse "The Body" Ventura signed 2 pics, 2 cards, and a bookplate for me.
Nice stuff guys! Hope I can get in on some of this goodness this week. Jeff, Ricky Watters will be a Hall of Famer one day, no doubt. 10,643 yards rushing, 91 total touchdowns, and a record 3 touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIX should do the trick.
