Got a nice one in the mail yesterday....newly elected Pro Football Hall of Famer, Ray Guy. Ray is a Georgia high school football legend. Won 2 state championships as a Mr. Everything at Thomson High School: quarterback, running back, defensive back, kicker, and yes, punter. Went on to play college ball at Southern Miss, and had an outstanding pro career with the Raiders. Led the NFL in punting in 1974, 1975, and 1977. Helped the Raiders win 3 Super Bowls, too.

  • Robert Babb

    nice professor!

  • Jeffery Kite

Thanks, Bob! And the week just got better with these 2 beauties today. First, former All-Pro center for the Atlanta Falcons Jeff Van Note signed this awesome 8x10 for my man cave today. Jeff was a 5-time Pro Bowl selection and played for the Falcons from 1969 to 1986, playing in 246 games, starting 226 of those games.

And then, this awesome 1974 Topps, inscribed and signed by Pro Football Hall of Famer, Lem Barney. Lem was probably the greatest cornerback of his era. He was the 1967 Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year when he intercepted 10 passes, returning 3 for touchdowns. Lem could do it all: ran some running plays, played corner, returned kicks, and even punted! He could just take over a game at any time. For example, in the last game of the 1970 season, the Lions, at 9-4, went into Tiger Stadium in Detroit, to play the Packers, with the temperature at 30 degrees and needed a win to get in the playoffs. Coach Joe Schmidt ( who was a Hall of Fame linebacker himself for the Lions,) needed someone to make some big plays. Lem would go on to return a kickoff 74 yards to set up one score, had 100 yards on punt returns for the day, and returned an interception 49 yards for a touchdown in the 4th quarter to seal a 20-0 victory. Talk about a game changer!

Got one in the mail yesterday, and after figuring out how to use the camera on my new phone, I'm getting around to posting it. Bob Kuechenberg was an offensive guard on the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins team that went 17-0 and beat the Redskins in Super Bowl VII. He was a 3-time All-Pro selection who made 6 Pro Bowl teams, and someone who I think is deserving of being named a Hall of Famer someday.
