Today's mail brought me the autographs of Tim Harkness and Robert "Hoot" Gibson. Tim was a first baseman for the 1960 Atlanta Crackers, who won minor league baseball's Southern Association championship that season. He also played a little for the Dodgers and Mets from 1961 - 1964. Hoot is a true American hero, as he was the pilot or commander of 5 space shuttle missions. To me, his best work came as commander of STS-27, when he rallied his crew together and got the space shuttle Atlantis safely back to Earth after over 700 heat shield tiles were damaged during lift off. He doesn't like to talk about this mission, but there is no doubt he did some amazing things to save the lives of his crew.

Had an amazing mail day yesterday. It is 2:58 a.m. Eastern time, and I am still so pumped about today's mail that I have not been able to go to sleep yet. First, I get the autograph of Stephen Bowen, current NASA astronaut and veteran of 3 space flights. Then I got Jack Lousma, pilot of NASA's Skylab 3 mission and Commander of NASA's STS-3 mission, which earned him a place in the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. And it just kept getting better with the autograph of Brant Alyea who played for the Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins, Oakland A's, and St. Louis Cardinals from 1965-1972. I also got the autograph of Eric Hinske, who was one of my favorite Braves players when he was here with us from 2010-2012. And then, I got a huge surprise, the autograph of Mrs. Barbara Bush, along with a hand written letter from her telling me all about her excitment over her new great-grandchild and to vote for Jeb in the 2016 election. What amazing pieces to add to my collection. I am so very thankful to to have each one of these.

Got antoher nice autograph today in Jeremy Mayfield. Jeremy is a race car driver who was a solid performer in the NASCAR series from 1993-2009, before some very serious personal troubles caught up with him. He has seemingly put all that behind him, and is now racing in the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series. Currently he ranks 9th in points, and last year, finished 6th. So glad to see that he has put his past behind him and found his nitch in racing again. I hope he can make a really strong comeback and compete in NASCAR again someday.

The mayor of Washington D.C. , Muriel Bowser sent me an auto-pen signed picture.
Really bummed about this as it was part of my National Geographic card set that I was working on. I wish that her people would have sent my cards and sase back to me.

Not long ago, I sent a LOR to, artist, Lydia Burris for an autograph. She sent back my card as well as a few extras.
Fast forward to today. I opened my mail box to find a sweet signed note and on original drawing. Pretty sweet!I also received may pic back signed by, NASCAR legend, Glen Wood.
