I got a Sophia Loren autograph TTM today. I don't know why but I used an envelope instead of a photo mailer for my return address. Of course, one corner is a little bent. It could have been far worse. Stupid mistake on my part.
I got a ttm from ronnie milsap. I also got my listia wins of autographs of jerry casale, willie gault, ron francis, hershel walker, mark calcavecchia, tom cubany, and george lindsey. From wwe shop.com i ordered a john cena dvd, tshirt, and autographed john cena card in the mail also.
The past few days mail have brought me several nice autographs. In the past week, I have received autographed University of Georgia Collegiate Collections cards of former UGA football greats Pat Dye and Dennis Hughes, as well as an autographed Georgia Tech Collegiate Collections card of former Tech football great John Dewberry. Pat Dye was an All-American offensive/defensive lineman for UGA in 1959 and 1960, as well as a fantastic college head coach for Wyoming, East Carolina, and Auburn. Dennis Hughes was an excellent tight end for the Bulldogs from 1967-1969, and was an All-SEC selection. John Dewberry was an Academic All-American for Georgia Tech in 1985, and really helped turn that program around in the 1980's. He also sent along a very nice note thanking me for the letter and recalling all his great games at quarterback. What a class act! .
After a 3 day drought, my mailman finally brought something worth posting. I received signed cards fro former Detroit Piston Joe Dumars and a Listia auction that I won of former major leaguer Todd Greene.
after a couple weeks dry myself, i finally hit pay dirt. first off the mail came early, thats a first.I received three different envelopes. The first was from Bernie kosar of the cleveland browns, he sent a great 8x10 signed. the second was a package from fred rodgers neighborhood. they sent me three signed 5x7 black and whites, including mr. mc feely. this is a special success seeing i grew up with t his program. and finally the last package was a large one. this turned out to be a personally signed book from jackie collins. personalized to me and my wife... a great friday all and all.
fred rodgers passed away a couple years ago, but i received three nice signed personalized pictures from a few of the cast. I also received lady aberlaine a few months back.
Good way to start the week. I received Listia winnings consisting of signed hero card of Dale Jarrett, Max Papis and Elliott Sadler. I also got a ttm success from WWE superstar and Nexus member Heath Slater! I sent to Slater c/o FCW.
I got autographs from richard petty and tna wrestlings dixie carter. I asked dixie carter for autos of vince russo and dlo brown but instead got autographs of madison rayne and velvet sky which was very nice of her any way. Also got my listia win of a signed ricky jordan card from russ robinson. Thanks russ for an an awsome autograph!
Today's mail brought me a signed 5x7 picture of former University of Georgia great, Matt Stinchcomb. Matt was a 2-time All-American offensive tacklevfor the Bulldogs in the late 1990's, and now does a lot of college football broadcasting work. He personalized it to me and put "Woof Woof!" What a stand up guy!
someone asked me at a show recently about mail order autographs and how would she know if they were actually signed by the artist... and not someone else.
my response was - you don't. Any better answers out there?
Yesterday's mail brought to me 1 autograph, and one semi-autograph! The autograph was of Angels baseball prospect, Reggie Willits. Reggie had a tough go of it early on this season, but wound up having a really nice year and is a bright spot for things to come. The semi-autograph was of Twins catcher, Joe Mauer. It was a post card of him saying he just found a big bag of his mail, and was answering it, and that he prefered to sign autographs for his fans in person, and that he hoped I understood, and please accept this post card, and he signed it "Joe." It looks like it was actually signed, but I will need to take a closer look-see to really be sure. All in all, a nice surprise in the mail.
I gota ttm in the mail from artist stan goldberg who does the archies comics. Also got an autograph from hemans hermits fred lipsius and actor kyle machlan. Then from elmers nostalgia i got and ordered an autographed picture from olivia newton john. I hope everyone had an awsome thanks giving!
Received a couple of signed football cards from Listia. The first is a 2006 Bowman Signs of the Future of Patriots tightend Dave Thomas. The second card is of former Miami Dolphins defensiveback Don McNeal.
Today I received a signed photograph from Sheila Mann , she
Was one of the Golddiggers on the Dean Martin Show . Plus the other Golddigers also sent me a signed photograph
hope everyone had a great thanksgiving but now it is back to the grind of collecting. received an email from sundance pictures they are sending out robert redford auto for me and my son. hopfully more then that comes in soon. i enjoy getting those successes. hey russ, quick questions. what is listia, im still learning the tricks of the trades.
UPDATE: After careful review and looking at some PSA and JSA authentic signatures, I have determined that the Joe Mauer postcard is ghost signed. The "J" in Joe is not very tight at the top of a typical Joe Mauer autograph, and he also does not fully spell out the "oe" in Joe, either, like on my postcard. Just an FYI to all you Twins fans out there!
Just saw this on TMZ.com.
Legendary funny man Leslie Nielsen died today of complications of pneumonia in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, this according to his agent. He was 84.
I got a ttm from emily rose of scfi s haven. She apologized for the bent picture she sent me and said she can not wait until the second season starts filming. If any one wants the address let me know. She seems to be a nice lady!
No ttm success to report, although I did recieve a couple of Listia auctions in the mail. One is a signed TNAutographs card of Rhino from the 2008 set. The other is a book called Imbalance it is signed by, author, Christine McGuigan!
I got an autograph in person today from my dentist steve hollar who played in the movie hoosiers as the character of rade. The address for emily rose is forward entertainment 9255 sunset blvd. suite 805 los angeles ca. 90069. I got a return back within 3 weeks good luck all!
Got an awesome mail response today. I got 3 autographs of former University of Georgia and Philadelphia Eagles great, Theron Sapp. Theron was a fantastic fullback for Georgia from 1956-1958, and was a key member of the Philadelphia Eagles 1960 NFL championship team. He signed for me the 1989 University of Georgia Collegiate Collections card I sent him, and also sent back an autographed picture of the famous game-winning touchdown he scored in the Georgia Tech game of 1957 that broke a string of 8 straight losses to the Yellow Jackets, as well as an autographed photcopy of a first day cover from 1969, featuring him and celebrating the 100th year of college football. What a classy guy! Thank you so much, Mr. Sapp, for all the extras.
No ttms again today, but I did get my order form Ring of Honor. I took advantage of thier 50% off Black Friday sale and picked up some nice signed 8x10s. I bought pics of Japanese stars Naruki Doi, Cima, and Ryo Saito. I also picked up an 8x10 signed by The Midnight Express, "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton and "Loverboy" Dennis Condrey along with thier manager Jim Cornette. These guys were one of my favorite tag teams in the 80s and I was able to get this pic for $7.50! 3 signatures of wrestling greats for less than $8! Awesome!
No ttms again today. Thank God for Listia.
I recieved a nice lot of 6 signed cards from maxranger. This lot also included a signed index card from the Lone Ranger Clayton Moore. I'll re-list this one as it is personalized to Wayne . The other cards in the lot were nice.
Ronna Reeves signed Country Classics card

Now the disappointment. I bid on an auction described a s a "Joe Smith Autographed Edition 1995" basketball card. The picture was shot at an angle that made the card look like it had been signed in black sharpie. It had a list price of 100 credits for it and I won it for 204. I recieved the card today only to find that it had a pre-printed silver autograph on it! I guess that I can take partial blame for not asking. I just assumed that it was signed by the description and picture. Most other auctions on the site will tell you if it is pre-prined or not. I was lead to belive that it was authentic Usually, I just re-list the stuff that I don't want, but I don't think that I would get 20 credits for it let alone 200. I e-mailed the seller, explaining that I would just like to return the card and get my credits back. We'll see how it goes.
