If collecting by mail is one of your passions, this is your group! Share tips, experiences and current successful mailing addresses. But don't share home addresses unless you're sure the celebrity wants to receive mail there.
The post man braved the snow today and brought me a couple of goodies. First, I received a signed card of, Detroit Tigers manager, Jim Leyland. Second was a Listia win of a Bowman Chrome Certified Rookie Card of Cardinals runningback Josh Scobey. Also, the post off ice didn't cancel the stamps on my Listia win. Freebies!
Today I received a nice signed 8x10 from the head football coach at U of L , Charlie Stone. I sent out my request in care of the university.
Secondly came a couple of big Listia disappointments. I won a signed 8x10 of Harry Gant that ended up being personalized "To Josh". This wasn't in the auction description and wasn't visible in the auction listing. I'm just going to re-list and hopefully get my credits back for it.
I also received a signed minor league card of Ernie Young. It is a great card and a welcome addition to my collection. The problem is that it was supposed to be free shipping and the envelope came to me with no postage at all! Instead, I got one of those little envelopes so that I can pay the $1.22 myself!
Lee Lacy, former 70's L.A. Dodgers 2B-OF took time to autograph my cards sent in the mail. He does charge $5 per autograph, but for collectors of that era, a decent price for a good player and gentleman to us collectors:
Nice week this past week. Got autographs in the mail of Fredi Gonzalez and Bobby Walden. Fredi is the current manager of the Atlanta Braves, and is going to do a great job for us this coming up season. Can hardly wait! Bobby was the punter for the Steelers Super Bowl IX and X championship teams, and had a fantastic 14 year career in the NFL.
Pretty crappy day for autographs. I got my Rob Terry card back signed, but on the back! So this one is going to be put on Listia! Secondly, I got a return from Xavier Woods. He signed 2 FCW cards for my sons, but he sent a note along with them telling me that my TNA cards weren't with the envelope! Now I don't have his signature or my cards!
To my great surprise on Saturday, I got a large manilla envelope that featured my labeled name and address in both the "To" and "From" sections, asignal that something good was forthcoming, but what? I always include a postage paid addressed envelope with my requests, but I hadn't sent out any requests in a while. I opened up the package to find a letter I had written to actor LQ Jones that was dated January 22, 2010. Mr. Jones is a member of the cast of the Sam Peckinpah epic western, "The Wild Bunch," and I had sent him a letter telling him how much I enjoy that film, and enclosed two photos from the film asking him to inscribe them and perhaps to write in a line of script from that particular scene. Mr. Jones wrote back, saying, "Dear Jay, You probably thought the hogs got to me! Not So!!" He went on to say that he had filed my envelope with some business papers and only recently came upon it. Because I attend Celebrity Colloctors shows, I had included what I thought woyuld be equal to what he may charge at a show. As far as I know he doesn't attend those shows, and he sent me back the money I sent him as well. Of course, he obliged me with the inscriptions and personalization, and made some comments about some things I wrote to him about my feelings about that amazingly singular film. My collecting goal is obtaining as many signatures as possible from this particular film, as it is my favorite. This brings me a little bit closer. Patience, my friends. Have patience.
I am sure that the address I have for him is his home address, but I found it here on Autograph Magazine in the celebrity address listings. In fact it was listed there on two occasions, which drove me a bit crazy because I thought I had the right address yet didn't hear from him in over a year. Then it was Eureeeka! I think the rules for THROUGH THE MAIL ( I just joined) is NOT to share if you think it's a home address, so I'd rather not. Please go through the old listings of celebrity addresses from the magazine and if you don't find it in a week or so, write me back and maybe I can send it to you privately. I don't mean to be mean; I'd kill for that address too, but I think I'm playing by the rules set up by the site. So let me know either way; if you don't find it, I'll work it out and get it to you.
Hello, my name is Jorge and I just joined TTM today. Great place here! I have been collecting TTM since '96. Became inactive for almost 10 years, but restarted the hobby several years ago. I send out about 10 letters a month, and had pretty good successes.
Since January I have received Robert Redford, Jon Voight, Fats Domino, Bruce Jenner, Peter Max- to name a few.
The ttm have been slow but i got a listia win today! I got a signed kurt thomas card and a signed rob terry card thanks to fellow grapher russ robinson, thanks russ!
This started out to be a very slow year because I really haven't mailed much since December 15th. But I do have a couple of hundred envelopes still out there some where. But I did recently get in two envelopes one from Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy) and Elliott Gould (MASH).
I got a autograph ttm from george wildman. He is a cartoonist and he did a sketch of popeye on the envelope also on one of my note cards. His address is george wildman 1690 shepard avenue hamden ct. 06518.
I resent two Football cards to Ed Sabol the newest member to the Pro Football HOF and the founder of NFL Films and received them back in about 10 days signed perfectly. I also received a signed and JSA authenicated Joe Gibbs Goal Line Art card from a private signing.
Today, I got a signed book plate from author T Jefferson Parker and some Listia winnings of an 8x10 autographed picture of the legendary Ernest Tubb and, band member, Jim Heep Jr. and a signed 8x10 of Kitty Wells and Bobby and Johnny Wright! The seller also included a signed vintage 8x10 of singer Rose Lee Maphis as well as a couple of old snapshots of some country performers. The Maphis is made out "To Turney" so I'll probably be listing this one on Listia in the not to distant future!
Was curious if anyone knows if Clint Eastwood ever signed requests through the mail. I have a few that I sent him back in the early 90s that I assume are probably secreterials.
The widow of superman co-creator, Jerry Seigel, died this past monday at the age of 93 years old. Both Jerry Seigel and his wife ,Joanna, were both from my home town of cleveland Ohio . Their home is still here today , kept up by volunteers to preserve the history behind the house. Joanna was the real life inspiration to seigel and his partner Joe schusters charactor of the man of steels heart throb , Lois Lane. She was first seen by all as lois in 1938.
According to some old issues autograph magazine his signature ttm is secretarial Lee! I saw a autograph picture of him at flea market last summer for 20 bucks but was skeptical about what i always heard about him signing.
I got a nice haul today! I received a couple of Listia wins consisting of a signed bookmark of former NHL ref Kerry Fraser and a signed CD of Keith Moody. TTM, I got Regan Smith, Marvin Miller, and, former TNA heavyweight champion, Mr. Anderson!
No ttms, but I did receive a Listia win. I won a 1998 trading card signed by Rudy Garcia - Tolson. He is the first double amputee to ever complet a tri-athalon! It is a great signature of a very inspirational athlete and I am proud to add it to my collection!
This weeks mail brought a signed 1987 Topps Herschel Walker card. the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Georgia still signs for his fans through the mail. Great guy in person, too.
I got a ttm from kristin bauer and return to sender from martin landeau. I have been getting a lot of return to senders but take the good with the bad!
I have had a dry spell this year and finally got something TTM from Grace Park. I sent her a BSG photo and lingerie photo but she only signed and returned the BSG photo.
I got my order from shop goodwill.com which consist of a framed autograph picture of jamie walters of the heights and beverly hills 90210 fame. I got it for a good price except for the shipping but at least it went for a good cause! Congrats on the grace park autograph mark!
Hi, new here. I've been through the mail collecting since. 1998. I think the hobby has changed alot since then and it seems more difficult than ever to get responses. The most recent one I received however was great. My niece is a huge fan of Johnny Depp. I had a postcard of him and thought I would try but wasn't expecting anything. I wrote a long letter telling how much my niece enjoyed his work and what a great girl she is and how I wanted to give her the autograph for Christmas. Mid November I received it back signed and I framed it and gave it to her as a gift. She loves it!
7 weeks ago I sent out three Matt Hasselbeck
Cards including his rookie card with the Green
Bay Packers. Today I recieved them along with two
8x10 photos which he also signed. What a great
Person!!!
I almost forgot.....I received last week a signed 1983 Donruss HOF heroes card and a signed index card from Yogi Berra....thanks to my good friend Jeff Kite providing me the address......and yes Jeff, they are legit
I got a long lost request back from Rich Renteria today. I mailed this one back in Nov. of '08 and just got it back today! It was gone 824 days! Never give up!
TTms autographs have been hit and miss but i got few listia auction wins in of former nhl referee kerry fraser signed bookmark and a autographed picture of actor gil bellows that was from adam utz. Thanks for listing the autograph richard on listia!
Today's mail brought me a signed 1990 Notre Dame Collegiate Collection Johnny Lattner card. Johnny was one of the greatest college football stars of all-time, playing offense, defense, and special teams - all at the same time during his games! He so deservedly won the 1953 Heisman Trophy award, and led Notre Dame to some of the most stirring comebacks in college football history.
hey there peeps, i have to suffer for awhile, if im noton here for a while it is because i am moving this week and probably next week, we know how lng it takes to get the mail back on track after a move. i will check in now and then. so far it is been a dry month. hope things pick up soon
