If collecting by mail is one of your passions, this is your group! Share tips, experiences and current successful mailing addresses. But don't share home addresses unless you're sure the celebrity wants to receive mail there.
I received the following through the mail just recently Jim Bunning, Ron Turcotte, one of my favorites Nehmiah Pershoff (spelling), Jon Voight, and Adam West. They were all signed on 3 x 5 cards and look authentic. They took about 2 weeks to 30 days to be returned.
I am so mad! Last week I purchased an autographed 5x7 picture of former GLOW girl, Ashley Cartier for $10. I got it today and boy was I mad!
The packaging for the picture looks as though a disgruntled postal worker just wadded it up and threw it in thier mail bin! It had a sticker on it that read: " Received in damaged condition at the Adrian post office." Imagine my horror when I opened the package to se my picture virtually destroyed! Not only do I not have Ashley's autograph now, but I'm also out $10!
On the bright side, I did get 4 Listia auctions in consisting of signed cards of Chris Spielman, Dan Pohl, Butch Benton and J.W. Porter.
It still doesn't get the U.S. Postal service off for thier incompetence though!
I got another tore up envelope from the p.o. today! Luckily, I didn't end up with any more damaged autographs! But it did destroy the personal note that the celeb wrote to me. I got a ttm success from, former WWE tag team champion, Rico! He signed my WWE trading cards and included a short note which I would have liked to have kept but the p.o. had a different idea! Oh well. At least my cards were safe! I also got a signed 8x10 of U-Conn coach Jim Calhoun! This was an e-mail request.
What if you put sturdy, reusable return envelopes and put address labels on them you can remove and replace and sticker over? Just put the items you want signed in them, put them into a slightly larger envelope to mail, and they're protected both ways.
Personally, I have never had as many damaged envelopes in all of my years of collecting as I have the last 2 days! I have always used a plain, business sized envelope with a smaller one inside it for the return. I have never had a problem doing it like this. It's funny how my bills never get destroyed in the mail though!
Man, Russ! You sure have had a hard time of it as of late. At least you are getting autographs. Haven't gotten any in 2 weeks. Have not been home yet today, though, and tomorrow Brandon Beachy of the Braves is signing at the team store in CNN Center, so the weekend is shaping up nicely.
I got an autograph ttm from lawrence taylor with a 2 week turna round. I got the address from mikes free autograph list but i believe it has been in autograph magazine before as well.
In January I mailed several photos, one previously signed by Vanessa Redgrave, to Cliff Robertson. This morning I received my photos back, all signed! As of today, my collection stands at 4,922 signed pieces. What a hellova hobby!!!
I got a couple of Listia wins today in the mail! And no, the the package wasn't damaged! I got a couple of signed cards of Chad Hermansen and Keith Ginter. Nice additions to my baseball p.c.!
Just won my first listia yesterday, i am hooked on it. my sons are even on listia now. i dont know how i misssed it before .Thanks for hooking up my freinds. i hope that i can get that high gordon great job, any tips of addys you want to share i am here for ya bro! lol
That's awesome Darrel! Welcome to both you and your sons! Its a great site and a lot of fun! The only problem right now is the fact that everyone is listing a bunch of Studio Fan Mail stuff and no one is really listing autographs. I wish that there was a little more variety.
Yeah Mark, I've collected for about 25 years. I've sunk a lot of time and money into this hobby, and for me it's been worth every minute and penny that I've put into it. This is a wonderful life-time hobby that I hope to enjoy another 25 years!
Yesterday I got the entire Stetson Womens Basketball team with the exception of 3 players . I had sent printouts of their stat pages. for each player and only 3 didnt sign theirs .
I got a nice TTM return from WWE Hall of Fame announcer, Jim Ross today. Found the address on fanmail.biz. I also recieved a replacement picture of the one that the post office destroyed of Ashley Cartier! I e-mailed her pics of the damage as well as my story and she replaced the picture free of charge! Class act!
That is good to here russ! I got autos tttm from tim burton, joan rivers, and aj foyt. I wrote to aj foyt and joan rivers several times before i got a reply but none the less i am very pleased!
robert , my kids are huge fans of tim burton 's Nightmare before Christmas. I would love to get a couple autographs for me and the kids.help me out brother?
Last night, I cam across an old Skip Holtz card from the Collegiate Notre Dame set that I thought would look cool signed, so I looked up his contact info. It led me to the ECU website where they have a very specific autograph policy. You are only able to get one item signed per sport, per person, per year. There is also a form that you have to fill out to accompany your item along with $10 if you don't have a SASE. The form asks who the autograph is for and who you want a signature from. It also has a space for organizations that want signatures for charity auctions and what not. Then, at the botton, you have to sign it saying that you agree to thier terms! In all of my years of collecting, I have never run into anything like this. It's cool though, because at least I know that I'm going to get my card signed!
Yesterday I received signed photos from: George Maharis, Tim Roth, Dustin Hoffman (signed a photo that Jon Voight had previously signed for me) and a disappointing pre-print from Hugh Hefner. Haven't been to my POB today, so hopefully I'll have some more to report!
Yesterday I got my book "a big little life" signed by Dean Koontz, including several photos that I sent him. He also sent a nice typed letter that he signed as well!
If you're a dog lover, especially a golden retriever lover (I have tw0) then you really should read "a big little life." A true story about his experience with the love and loyalty of his golden retriever, Trixie. A short but very poignant read!
No ttms today, but I did receive a sweet signed flyer from an indy wrestling event from my good friend Bob Baab! It is signed by Bruiser Jr. , Hardcore Harry, The Polish Heartthrob, and a couple of others that I can't make out. I can't wait to research the other names! Thanks Bob!
A couple of months ago, I wrote Tim Burton at his West Hollywood office and included a couple of photos for him to sign for me. Today I received a small letter size envelope from England with the West Hollywood return address on it. Enclosed was a form letter re: his busy schedule, etc.. and a small 3x5 preprint...can't win them all!
gordan, i had the privalage of getting deans auto as well. great writer, my wife loves his books, he sent me a nice one of him and his dog and sent my wife one as well and personalized it to her. great signer as well.
No ttms again today, but I did get a sweet Listia win! I received a signed flyer of former WWF Diva, Debra. I couldn't believe that I won this one! I didn't have a Debra sig until now!
i got an awsome response from davy jones ttm for my kids today! He sent my daughter and son each a signed and inscribed picture. Know if we are not able to get any autos from the monkees this summer when we see them in concert at least we got responses from mr. jones and mr. tork!
I received a great resonse from James Earl Jones today. He kindlysigned the photos and cards that I sent him. A class act, Mr. Jones is great to his fans!
another dry dy for autographs via ttm. I have plenty of the requests out there, just a matter of them getting back to me. the mail came and went and i was depressed again, then about two hours after he left, he came back and depositedsome more envelopes. I received my listia wins today all six of them! valerie harper, one from one of the actors from my three sons. cant remember right off and four from some classic female golfers from the late 40's early 50's and 60's. all and all a great day even with the rain.
Thursday I got in the mail CHASSIDY COLE, CHELSEA POPPENS, HALLIE CHRISTOFFERSON, KELSEY HARRIS, LAUREN MANSFIELD, KELSEY BOLTE, ELLY ARGANBRIGHT, AMANDA ZIMMERMAN, and ANNA PRINS . the entire Iowa State Cyclones womens basketball team in the mail
I got autos ttm from heather locklear, alison arngrim, and wrestler jeff hardy. I also got my listia of a signed cd todd and tyler from russ robinson ! Thanks russ!
You're very welcome, Bob! I hope that you enjoy it! I got a nice Listia win of a signed William Gates card. I also got a sweet package from artist Jessica Hickman. I wrote to her back in Oct. 2010 to see if she would sign a card that a friend of mine had given me. I alsoincluded a couple of the decoy cards that they put in ball cards to try and deter pack sorting. In my letter, I asked if she would please sketch a little something for my 2 daughters on the blank cards. After a couple of back and forth e-mails, we finally got the package. Not only did she sign my original card, but she also added another sign card, a couple os stickers and 3 unsigned cards along with the decoys that now have sketches of The Little Mermaid and Princess Leugh, both signed for my girls! I am so extatic! Jessica Hickman 5100 6th St. NE 34 Columbia Hatts, MN 55421

Just a thought:

Anyone try that? Any thoughts?
