Just one other thing.......any of you baseball fans out there, I would really encourage you all to try and go to a Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game sometime if you can and are close. Their manager is Hall of Fame second baseman, Ryne Sandberg. He signs autographs for about 30 minutes before the game, and is so very nice and cordial with the fans. Check out my post on my meeting with him last Thursday in the In-Person and Sports threads on here.

Well I learned a lesson, I paid $25 to Mary Linda Rapelye for a Star Trek autograph. It arrived today trashed in the mailbox. The Post Office blamed her...no cardboard inside etc. I won't buy any other autos unless it's in-person.

Today's mail brought me the autograph of former Florida State kicker, Barry Barco. Barry was the kickoff specialist for Florida Sate from 1983 to 1985, and teamed with punter Louis Berry and placekicker Derek Schmidt to form one of the best special teams units in country at the time.

  • CEE GEE

Wow guys...there are some kick ass returns from everyone on here...these are just awesome !!!!!

I sent Annette Funicello a new pair of Mouseketeer "ears" with her name sewed on the back ( vintage style 1956, much like she wore on the Mickey Mouse Club way back), along with a few other items I wanted to share with her. I received this nice note today from her husband, Glen Holt.He also included this photo of Annette with stamped "autograph".

Today's mail brought me the autograph of former Florida State linebacker, Terry Warren. Terry was an All-American in 1987, and was a key part of that team that finished 11-1 and #2 in the country after defeating Nebraska in the Fiesta Bowl. He is now a fabulous gospel singer, and I encourage everyone to check out his music.

  • Robert Babb

I got an autographed picture from shirley maclaine ttm today! Happy fathers day to all!

  • Jeffery Kite

To finish up the week, I got a letter in the mail today stating I did not win the Coca-Cola Atlanta Braves Sweepstakes of autographed memorabilia, but I did win 2nd prize in the form of a $25 Publix gift card! Not a "true" TTM success, but pretty darn cool, to say the least. Happy Father's Day to all, from the Professor.

  • CEE GEE

Happy Belated Fathers Day all !!!!!!!!

  • Robert Babb

I got autographs ttm from greg louganis and greg grunberg today!

  • Russ Robinson

Frankie Valli ruined a couple of cards for me by signing them on the back.

  • Robert Babb

Sorry to hear that russ! He did the same for me as well but least it is an awsome success from a music legend!

  • Russ Robinson

I agree that it is a great success. It could have been worse, I couldn't have gotten anything back at all or have them returned in my sase, unsigned with a price list.

It's just a pet peeve of mine. I remember reading an article in Autograph years ago about collector's different quirks. There was one example of a guy that got a free autograph of some, baseball player, I forget who it was, but the card was signed in red Sharpie. The guy only collects cards signed in blue, so he threw the card in the garbage right in front of his friend! I won't go to that extreme. I am sure that I can find a collector that would love to have a Frankie Valli autograph of any kind in thier collection. I'll find them a good home!

  • Robert Babb

    good luck russ!

  • CEE GEE

Got some real nice autos from Virgil Trucks and a really nice letter as well...got one form Hector Lopez signed 61-62 WSC...and Got 2 from Monte Irvin on Saturday...and a failure from Jim Coates who wants 10 bucks so I will be sending that one back out there...I wish I could post pics...but once the option bar comes up again I will post them down the road...

  • Jeffery Kite

Today's mail brought me the autograph of former Bengals and Cowboys defensive back, Ray Horton. As a defensive back and punt returner for the Bengals, Ray helped guide them to the AFC Championship in 1988, and into Super Bowl XXIII. Coming short against the 49ers in that Super Bowl, Ray would get another shot, as he was a key member of that great defense for that Cowboys team who won Super Bowl XXVII. He was the defensive backs coach for those great Steelers teams that won Super Bowls XL and XLIII, and now he is coaching up the defensive backs for the Arizona Cardinals. 1st autograph for the new mailbox I just put up this weekend!

  • CEE GEE

Got Whitey Ford again last night...it came out pretty bad...either he is getting really old or just don't care...totally signed in the wrong way and the ink did not take to the card so well either...it was a 4 player card with room for all 4 to sign and he signed right across the entire thing...

  • Fredrik Nyman

Got Jennifer Morrison 'House M.D.' & 'Once upon a time' the other day...Nice catch...Too bad she didn't dedicate it tho.

  • Jeffery Kite

Today's mail brought the autograph of former Notre Dame center, John Scully. John was a member of that legendary 1977 National Championship team, and would go on to be an All-American in 1980. He was drafted by the Falcons in 1981, and enjoyed a nice 10 year NFL career in Atlanta.

  • CEE GEE

Got Bud Daley in on an original card last night...forgot the year...I wish I could post pics...but oh well...once the option opens up I will post them up...also got a Jerry Coleman 50 Bowman orignal signed card in and he also sent an extra signed card...really cool...stay cool guys...holllla..

nice succeses russ! and everyone else! It has been a slow week for me as well!

  • Jeffery Kite

Hey, want to see what you guys think about something. I usually wait about 1 month after a particular sports season is over before I write to a former athlete of that sport (I've just given up on current players). Been doing football for a while, and now about to start with hockey. Though there is still 6 more months in the year left, my success percentage this year has been way down since I've been tracking my requests (2010 - 66%, 2011 - 74%, 2012 - 45%.) Has anyone else experienced a huge drop off this year?

  • Russ Robinson

I had a huge end to 2011 going into 2012. I have noticed that my ttms have really dropped off diring the last couple of weeks. I suppose it's because of people going on vacationsa and such. I'm with you Jeffery. I really don't write to current players anymore either. Last football season, I wrote to a bunch of rookies and second year players. I didn't get nothing back from any of them. Baseball hasn't been much better to me either. Not one success from spring traing and only one success from the current players I have written to so far. Danny Worth.

  • CEE GEE

It seems I have done better this year then last personally...I sent out only a total of 77 and got back 55 in 2012 which is a pretty good ratio...but last year I did much worse for sure and have still 62 pending...and only receiving about 50 or so...

  • Mike P

Just received a signed Bush bookplate. sent out may 31received today. Thanks to Robert Babb and Jeff kite for the help! http://db.tt/C9JVWNwC

Wow, Russ...that is unreal. You know what, I've been seeing 4 figure response days from Jim Harbaugh a lot lately, and I think I know why. The NCAA has become such rule Nazis over the past 25 years or so, that I think college coaches are afraid to write back to their fans. Remember your Mark Richt experience? I wrote him a few weeks back, and put in my letter that the photo I requested an autograph on was going in my man cave, and would not be used as a recruiting gift. I have yet to get a response. You think maybe Harbaugh hoarded away these fan letters and autograph requests and is just now responding to them, fearing that he would put the fine program he built at Stanford in jeopardy by signing autographs that could be sold or used as gifts? Just a thought.

  • Jeffery Kite

Today's mail brought me some mixed feelings. First I got the autograph of former Florida State wide receiver, Ronald Lewis. Ron was a 2-time All-American at Florida State in 1988 and 1989, and was a member of the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl XXIV Championship team. Then, I got a preprint 4x6 from Roger Clemens. I have been reading about all these TTM successes (one from you Cee Gee) from the 7-time Cy Young Award winning pitcher, and just had to try it out myself. Did get my card back, and can't say that I was shocked or disappointed. I figured on getting a preprint.

  • Jeffery Kite

And Mike P, glad I could help in some small way, bro!

  • CEE GEE

Whats up guys...great stuff Russ...that is a pretty sick wait dude...WOW...you must have been shocked opening that thing up for sure...Jeffery...did you use his home or his charity address ?...LMK also any thing on Kiner yet ?...my pal Dave Jackson just gut an RTS from him recently...

  • Jeffery Kite

I wrote to Harbaugh way back in 1996 when he was playing with the Colts. I used the team address then. And I must say, the Harbaughs that are starting to come in now look just like mine that was signed 16 years ago. Hasn't changed his signature a bit. From what I hear, he is a class act and a gentleman in person. I think he is on the verge of being one of the all-time greats among football coaches. Get him now when you can, guys! Anybody on here that wants to see my Harbaugh from 1996, just let me know.

  • Jeffery Kite

Oh, I forgot Cee Gee, have not written to Kiner yet. When I do, I'll let you know.

  • Robert Babb

I was glad i could help to mike p!

  • Eric Mercer

I'm sure this as been asked before, but I am curious how one from the United States can get autograph(s) from United Kingdom. How do you place postage on the return envelope (i.e., where does one obtain UK postage)? Do you include US money for the autograph or UK money? If UK, where can one get the necessary bills and how much do you send with request?

Is there anything more one needs to know about sending overseas?

  • Lee Parmerter

Eric, what has worked for me in the past is purchased international response coupons through the USPS website and then included 4 of them along with a self addressed envelope so that the recipient (or their agent) could use them to purchase the necessary postage in their country. It can get expensive and I have only received back one out of three sent out.

  • Russ Robinson

  • Eric Mercer

Lee, I don't see where I can purchase them online from USPS.

  • Robert Babb

I got autos ttm from eddie deezen and gaylord sartain after a dry spell!

  • Jeffery Kite

Russ, those are some sweet Don Beebe autographs. That shot on the 1990 Pro Set cards is from the Bills vs. Browns playoff game playe on January 6, 1990. On that play, Beebe went up for the catch, and Felix Wright hit him in the back in mid air, flipping Beebe over, and causing him the land squarely on top of his head. The ball popped out and it was declared an incomplete pass. I thought dude broke his neck, but he got up like nothing happened. Here's the clip:
