What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
I suppose the Golden age of Hollywood is my favourite area, closley followed by historical figures. I tend to collect few items but make them the best I can afford. Thanks to Steven Raab for that sage advice!
I also collect film posters and stills, Silver Age comic book art (and story book art ) and cartoon production cels (no Courvoisiers unfortunately but I do have a Bugs Bunny from the 50s signed by Chuck Jones (the artist),Mel Blanc (the voice), Fritz Freleng (producer?) and Virgil Ross....and a lot of Hanna/Barbera signed production cels (Sccoby Doo, Dastardly and Muttley, Flinstones, Top Cat) and a Tom and jerry set up (unsigned).
What is your level of expertise?
Intermediate Collector
What are your areas of interest?
History/Politics, Modern Hollywood and Stage, Classic Hollywood and Stage, SciFi, Space/Aviation/Military
Why do you collect?
I have always loved history, but far too much to study it professionally. That's where the historic autographs come in. I also joined my first film club aged 9 where we used to watch cartoons, a week to week serial and a feature film. My love of film grew from an early age.
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
I have a 4 page pencil letter written by Humphrey Bogart just before the Maltese Falcon was released. I also have what is said to be the earliest known photgraph ever signed by Judy Garland. I cannot separate the two. Both are priceless to me.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
Probably Abraham Lincoln and ask him to sign it on Matthew Brady photo in his full name and quoting from the Gettysburg Address. Why not !
