My Live Aid display, autographs by Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney & Bono

Just wanted to show you my Live Aid display that I just made.

I loved the Live Aid concert and the impact it had on music as a political ”weapon” and I have always loved the photo of Macca, Freddie and Bono from that concert. These are three of my biggest heroes in music and Live Aid was the big breakthrough for U2 and a resurgence for Queen.

I wanted all graphs to be about the same size and signed in the same way, bold and in blue sharpie, to match each other. Yes, I know that Freddie is on a blue paper, but try to find Macca & Bono on that too... :-)

I hope you will like it! And you’re always welcome to drop a comment below and let me know what you think!

Info about the autographs:
- Bono: Obtained by Andy Hemington of ”Autograph & Memorabilia” (UACC dealer #213, AFTAL dealer #8 and RACC dealer #186) at Merrion Hotel, Dublin Ireland in 2007.

- Paul McCartney: Obtained by Mark Kirkup of ”In-Person-Autographs” (AFTAL dealer #12 and RACC dealer #144) outside Paul’s office in Soho, London in 2009 or 2010.

- Freddie Mercury: Bought from member Innuendo (the best on Queen) and it was obtained by a friend of him in Los Angeles in 1983.

Awesome stuff man! I love the idea of having a 'vision' for a piece (like you did with the Live Aid photo) and putting it together bit by bit. Collecting parts to make a whole is such a satisfying process and man, have you knocked it out of the park with this! Three killer autographs too!

I doubt he will sell it !

It's for sale now for 4000 us.

Thank you guys, much appreciated. And no Paul, it’s not for sale... :-)

I fully agree with you TQ about collecting parts to build something bigger. I simply can’t afford the high end items by for example Macca/Freddie and instead I often buy autographs on paper and do displays like this. Try to make something cool where the sum is greater than it’s parts so to speak...

How much money do you have invested in this item and how much do you think you could sell it for if you obtained a coa for it?

Comment by Cogo on June 13, 2019 at 1:31am

What I have invested in it will I keep for myself, both because I want to and out of respect for the dealers/collectors that I bought it from.

Macca and Bono have COAs from well respected UACC/AFTAL/RACC dealers. Freddie did I buy from Innuendo, so I will not even bother to get one for him.

Honestly don’t know the resell value, but if someone offered the $4000 you joked about in an earlier comment I would at least think about that... ;-)
