What brings you to Autograph Live?
I'm trying to get George Lucas' autograph authenticated on a Star Wars movie poster (the original movie, 1977). And then I'd like to get a value on it. I am trying to get my affairs in order because I'm not getting any younger.
Who can we thank for telling you about Autograph Live?
No one invited me
What do you collect, or want to collect?
Sports, History/Politics, Books/Literature, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Music
Tell us more about your collection, specific areas of interest, etc.:
I have a big collection of 33-1/3 rmp records, audiotapes, old books (but no first editions), Beatrix Potter figurines.
What is your level of expertise?
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
George Lucas, followed by Paul Newman and Mark Donahue.
Why do you collect?
I value history inasmuch as it informs the present and the future. Everything I own has a particular meaning for me. I had the privilege of meeting Newman and Donahue, and saw Lucas during driver training for sports cars -- I was a volunteer with the Sports Car Club of America at the time (1970s). When I had a choice of prizes in a drawing/fundraiser for a professional group to which I belonged, I picked the autographed Star Wars poster and have treasured it ever since.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
That's a tough one. Maybe Ghandi, William Shakespeare or Winston Churchill.
