Since the Auction we has been recently re-listed, we have paid to have these looked at and our gut was correct.... NOT REAL! The Auction Site and The House have been alerted they refuse to take down.

Thank you for forwarding further follow-up e-mails. We have reviewed the matter with the auction house in question. They are returning the item that you purchased to the consignor, and we will be writing them to make sure that they release you from the transaction for the lot. However, they did note that, as you have not received the item, a proper evaluation of the item's authenticity would be impossible. In addition, it is the responsibility of the bidder to inspect all items to his/her satisfaction before placing legally binding bids on lots for sale on LiveAuctioneers.

Here is the response I received from them regarding their auction forgery policies as it is applies to Pioneer Auctions.

Thank you for your e-mail. LiveAuctioneers takes concerns regarding the authenticity of items listed on our website very seriously. While it is the responsibility of the bidder to inspect all items to his/her satisfaction before placing legally binding bids on lots for sale on LiveAuctioneers, That said, we can start an investigation with the auction house upon receipt of written documentation from an expert confirming that an item listed on our site was not as described. Comment by mike d. on May 25, 2012 at 2:06pm: James...Babe Ruth was walking down the street many years ago (before he died just to be clear) and ran (literally) into a fellow juggling three bowling pins who obviously wasn't paying attention (too poor?) to passers-by, the Babe being one. the distraught juggler was knocked to the ground by the Babe along with his three bowling pins. gathering himself and looking for his pins, was dismayed to find one of them running up the street under a kids arm. he picked up the other two and found Babe Ruth also knocked to the ground by the collusion. helping the Babe up to his feet and shaking the dust off, he asked Babe Ruth to sign his now two bowling pins which the Babe did graciously. they both went their separate ways. Portland(ia) Auctions - thats my story and i'm sticking to it
