Josh you need to be smart and creative to get the upper edge in this collecting industry, from experience I have been collecting for over 30 yrs now, and I learned how to get the upper edge on autographs, From finding out where and when celebrities are staying at, to getting my autographs first in line.

Josh, I liked the piece you wrote above... but I was bummed to read that you assumed I was a forger. That's probably the farthest thing from the truth.

Adam is right. I am looking for a Ringo autograph so that I could potentially get Paul to sign it. I'm seeing Paul twice in May and I think I have a good chance at meeting him. My apologies if my messages seemed vague. I've been fairly open about my intentions on this site.

Frankly speaking - when I read stuff like this about behaviour of "autograph hunters".... I feel happy to live in central European country where such a disgusting behaviour is not happening at all, because autograph business itself nearly doesnt exist.

Rich -- I've always said, the BEST THING to do to let the stars know you're NOT a seller, is IF they ask you if you want it personalized, smile wide and say "Yes, please...make it 'to josh'." That assures them you're a fan. I do that every time. BUT...I never ask them to personalize, for two big reasons. First, they sometimes think of that as MORE of an inconvenience. They might have to ask how to spell your name, they're writing out more (ie taking longer), etc. And, if they don't…

I have gotten signatures myself from only a few people, a signed Volunteers album by hot tuna at the first ever house of blues in cambridge MA (dan akroid was there), michelle shocked, patty smith, a few others. AND THE 1990 NEWPORT FOLF FEZTIVAL WHERE ROBBIE ROBERTSON POSSIBLY PLAID LAST TIME WITH THE BAND.

Here is the story. I grew up in Vermont went to high school where ben and jerrys is located. They sponsored 2 years of the Newport folk festival and I got back stage passes to one when the band played. Numerous other great players where there too (see pass photo). Many were on the side of the stage with me watching the band play-they were all in awe of the band- patty larking, Suzanne vega, a bunch of others.

I walked by the fence where crowd was and 2 german woman were desperate to get their program signed by who I cant remember- michelle shocked maybe- so I obliged them- probably thinking I am mr big stuff- and took there program to artist. The artist didn't seemed pleased but signed it anyway with a lyric. the german girls were freaked out with excitement and no doubt buy that artist new music to this day.

But when the Band stopped playing, I walked on stage and picked up the handwritten set list -attached- I had 3 or so artists sign it on the back (these superstars in their own right were impressed that I got the set list). One song I don''t recognized (I was 14). But my main question is who wrote the song list. Anyone know? And why is this show (my pass show the band played) erased from amy reference. I have search the web and not fpound any referenced to it???
