The Victims Of Muhammad Ali Forgeries On Ebay GFA/Rocchi

As we've noticed during the last 48 hours, both Ebay and the Ebay sellers of Muhammad Ali forgeries are making a killing on Ebay.

The victims (who don't know yet that they are victims) are getting scammed to no end.

It's both sad and disgusting.

First, immediately below, link to my first four threads on GFA-certed (Stephen Rocchi) Muhammad Ali forgeries on Ebay.

First of all, as I've mentioned before, the Ebay sellers of GFA-certed Muhammad Ali forgeries have taken advantage of the emotions of people who adored Ali.

When the news hit that Muhammad Ali passed away, the Ebay sellers of GFA-certed forgeries sprung into action with their suppliers of Muhammad Ali forgeries (hot off the presses).

The majority of us experienced autograph collectors know that once someone in the public spotlight passes, admirers of that person go straight to Ebay looking to possess autograph of that public figure.

In this case, it was Muhammad Ali who passed away.  He was, and will always be adored by millions who desired his autograph impulsively specifically on Ebay.

His adoring fans went to Ebay for his autograph and there the carnage began.

The first thing is that Ebay could have prevented the mass-selling of GFA-certed Muhammad Ali forgeries, but they didn't...

I believe one seller has sold nearly 10K in GFA-certed Ali forgeries.

There is too much money involved for Ebay to want to stop it....

So yes, Ebay is a major part of the problem.

So we have Ebay, Ebay sellers and the source of the Ali forgeries.

So why does it all continue?

Because the biggest part of the problem is that the legitimate autograph industry isn't interested in working together to protect the public.

It will simply never happen.  Only the little guys care.

Days, weeks or years from now, the majority of those buyers of GFA-certed Muhammad Ali forgeries will discover they've been scammed.

Some of them will attempt to dump their stuff, but the majority will be too embarrassed to admit that they've been ripped-off and that's the sad part.

If any of them happen to discover or stumble upon any of my threads on GFA-certed Muhammad Ali forgeries, I hope they will decide to take action against the seller.

I hope some of them discover this thread or my other threads below.

Ebay should be totally ashamed of itself for allowing this to happen.

Shame on you Ebay!!!

They look like the Muhammad Ali forgeries thousands of soldiers, veterans and their families bought through the military exchanges. Plus the Mantle, Ted Williams and DiMaggio and other blatant forgeries they were sold.

They sure do, Steve.

They all look mechanically-penned.  The same crap, different day.

Exactly! I am so sick of this crap. Ali's signature, as it got smaller and shakier, became much easier to forge. I wouldn't doubt auto pen is being used for this run of fake GFA items which include Mantle, Williams, DiMaggio, Unitas, Gretzky, Clint Eastwood, etc. Most of these are signed exactly the same, in the same place on the photo. How can people not realize that you can't get a legit Mantle and Williams dual signed for $49!

Hi, I just joined and I do have an authentic signature of Muhammed Ali. I was in Las Vegas in 1985 at a NECA convention and he was in a booth at a small cafe in one of the casinos talking to another man. He very graciously signed to me with my name as I knelt beside his table. He ended with a smiley face! And he dated it!

Ali was always a willing signer, I never saw him turn anybody down. One of the nicest athletes/people I have ever met.

Gloria, welcome to our site.

Gloria, would you like to post your Ali autograph for everyone to see?

Comment by Eric Keith Longo on June 11, 2016 at 8:59am

"...the legitimate autograph industry isn't interested in working together to protect the public."

I don't say all that. I'll just say that is roughly something like my default position across the board with any of this type of thing...are they not businesses? I don't say anything deliberate is done. I mention no individual or TPG, just what seems to me common sense. I just don't expect others to look out for me better than I will - at least in terms of motivation. Put another way, simply, I assume forgery until proven otherwise, authenticated, certified or other.

Eric

Thank you, Christopher, for the welcome! And I would love to post my Muhammad Ali autograph. I have never posted anything so not sure how to do it. I do have an IPhone.

Ali/eBay - you can't fix stupid. If people want to believe and make an impulse purchase - who cares?
You don't go out looking for an autograph AFTER somebody dies.
If you're a fan, it's easier when they're alive.
