I've never seen Tony's name on the secretarial list but if it has I guess this thread is for naught. But if this is a first, the study will not be near as extensive as the Heston thread but will serve as a big Odd Couple fan's coming to terms with his fake autographs.

The index card is an authentic signature. It is dated 1993 and I'm not sure if it's a ttm though prev. owner had several other ttm signed index cards and photos. I do recall seeing a Tony signed questionnaire from mid 1990s, listed on ebay some years ago. I'm guessing that was a ttm and was an authentic item. I think Tony did use secretaries ttm overall as I've seen different personalized photos over the years and the handwriting always differed from the authentic examples.

The index cards is a great example of Tony's handwriting-always fairly messy while the ttms were much neater. The photos are various examples of ttms I've gotten over the years. The non-personalized ones seem different handwriting from the other three. Those were photos Tony or his staff provided. The top b/w photo was received with a generic photocopied note asking for a donation to Tony's theater in New York. The bottom b/w photo was received when I sent a donation (only $5) and a SASE requesting information on his theater. Both photos were received in 2000.

The other three photos were ttms in 2001 and 2003. The personalizations are a big tip off to me, if the handwriting was not already. As 2003 was one of the final years of Tony's life you would think his handwriting would've gotten worse if these were authentic versus the poor handwriting from the 1993 signed index card. I've sold most of my autograph collection so I'm not looking for any signed Odd Couple photos though I know there are quite a few authentic examples of Klugman (whose ttms were real) and Randall together on various photos, playbills etc...

It's sad to know that I can neither keep nor sell my multi signed Odd Couple photo as it features a secretarial Tony Randall and much like Charlton Heston's secretary on POTA photos, Tony's secretary ruined a fan's multi signed item.

I hope this thread is of use to someone who may have been questioning their ttm Randalls.

You are correct that Tony Randall's signature was very "messy" contrary to the memory of Felix Unger.  I have him somewhere I will need to try to figure where it is.  It was a Klugman and Randall album page and Klugman was much neater.

Here is a genuine Tony Randall signature.

here is mine

Cool autographs, guys. Back when Tony was living there wasn't a lot of secretarial talk with any stars. Mostly just Paul Newman since he outright said he wasn't signing anymore. Most sites that had addresses and successes just knew fakes as autopens/pre-prints/stamps etc...Even the autograph books didn't know the secretarials. By time I figured out Tony was fake it was too late to try a different method in obtaining his autograph.
