Opinion on Old Yankees Baseball

Hi Everyone, I came across this old Yankees baseball and am trying to verify authenticity and what year it’s from. It seems like the very beginning year of Mantle and Yogi Berras career. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. -Sal

great explanation Woody. In the case of this particular ball (with the possible exception of the Ca in Casey), I don't see evidence of someone writing over the original stamping. But I have seen what you are referencing in other instances.

the ones in the photo you added look promising but they are very light signatures, so can't be certain unless you have better quality photos

A few buying rules to live by until you're really good at an autograph:

Always get crisp, large, well-lit images, and as many as needed. If you can't get them, move on.
Have balls, and most items, removed from their holder when they're being imaged.
ALWAYS pay with regular PayPal with buyer protection. DON'T use Friends & Family to save a few percent.
Get a pic of any COAs that come with it. Not to prove authenticity, but to tell if the autograph has a high chance of being fake no matter how good it looks. Many COAs are known to almost exclusively accompany forgeries.
