Uriah Heep, Live 1973 Fully Signed Booklet, Authentic or Not?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought this on eBay from a reputable seller. I have no issues with the seller. He told me that the booklet was given to him by a friend. No other history or information was available, besides that it is signed by the entire band.

I believe that they are authentic, as I have many other Heep autographs in my collection. There were a few people on Heep social media that seem to disagree.

I believe the booklet was autographed between 1973/1974

I guess that is why I am here.

My reasons for believing the signatures are real:

These signatures are very large, oversized. It is common to put more emphasis on your signature when you enlarge it.

Compared to other signatures from around the same time period, they are very close. In my opinion.

Anyway, feel free to inspect the HDR photos I have included.

And so the debate begins.

Fair enough.

It only cost 10 euro, and the seller had no clue about it. No other records for sale, just household items and collectible vintage toys.

I snapped it up because I believed it was authentic. Hell who would or wouldn’t pass it up. Curiosity killed the cat so to say.

I own over 100 Uriah Heep autographs and 97% of them were done in person. I am not an inexperienced collector.

I have sang on stage with the band for Heep sake. Pretty sure I also know well enough to steer away from shady looking autographs.

Thanks for the advice both of you

I’ll take my leave.

Well €10 is about as good as any forgery price I’ve ever seen so good on you

And to your point, at the end of the day they are your signatures - doesn’t matter to me if they’re fake or not :)

rock on

thx dude

I take all Packer jabs as a full on compliment haha

I knew you would :)

It is great to see other Uriah Heep fans in here, albeit in a battle about the authenticity of the autographs :) I grew up in Bulgaria, where a lot of the Rock bands from the 70s and 80s were influenced by Heep. As a matter of fact, I will see them live on April 19th here in Southern California!

I cannot speak about the authenticity of the signatures, because I am not familiar with all of them(I myself have only gotten Mick Box in person), especially from that time period, but I would recommend asking Roger Epperson for a quick opinion. By the way, he has a fully signed piece from that period for sale on his website.

Also, I disagree about the "Who would forge Heep" sentiment, especially when it comes to David Byron (RIP) signature which is pretty scarce and , for one, I would love to own one!

Indeed, David Byron died in 1985, by which time Gary Thain had already been dead nearly 10 years. So any item, nevermind an album, signed nicely with a marker by this line-up, would be exceptionally rare.

It's been impossible to complete any classic lineup of the band for years, even the late '70s ones.

These are ridiculous forgeries.
