There were many movie and television stars that appeared as guest stars (though never called that on the show) on TAGS.   Hopefully others will add their autographs of stars like Buddy Ebsen, Charlie Ruggles, Edgar Buchanan, Everett Sloane, Alan Hale, Jr.,Bob Denver, John Dehner and many others who appeared as "guest stars" on an episode of TAGS.  Elsewhere I think in the comment section I have my Jack Nicholson autograph.  I am not including him here because he was in two episodes.

Julie Adams is one of those stars she appeared in a very popular episode "The County Nurse."   I have had the pleasure of meeting her various times and she is one of the nicest stars I have encountered.  She spoke very highly of Andy Griffith and how much she enjoyed working with him.    She would go on to play Jimmy Stewart's wife in The Jimmy Stewart Show.  She also appeared in a reoccurring role as the man-crazy real estate agent on Angela Lansbury's  Murder She Wrote.  Horror fans remember best as Kay Lawrence in the Universal Productions Creature From the Black Lagoon.  This photograph is one I got from Miss Adams at her first Monster Bash Conference in Pittsburgh a few years ago.

BUDDY EBSEN (1908–2003) best known as Jed Clampett,Barnaby Jones and Georgie Russell in the Davy Crockett series with Fess Parker.  He played a light fingered hobo in a classic episode of The Andy Griffith Show. He also starred as a man with the power to heal with his mind in The Twilight Zone.   Starting out as a song and dance man he was originally cast to play the Scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz and in a unfortunate move he traded with Ray Bolger and became the Tin Man instead.  The paint used for the latter nearly killed Ebsen and blamed it for continuing lung problems even though he lived to be 95.  He sought after by collector's for those various roles.  This is from an autographed letter signed in the 1980s:

EDMON RYAN (1905-1984) a prolific character actor in both movies and television.  He appeared on the TAGS episode "Crime Free Mayberry" in 1961. He appeared in Bonanza, I Dream of Jeannie, Thriller and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  His last movie role was 1970 epic Tora, Tora, Tora playing Adm. Bellinger.  His autograph is uncommon.

This is an 8x10 black and white photograph probably late 1970s or very early 80s from the Peter Hanson collection:

EDMON RYAN a great character actor who was in TORA, TORA, TORA one of best World War II blockbusters.  He played Adm. Bellinger.   This is a 1975 signature from a note in green felt tip.

ROBERT NICHOLS 1924-2013) was in scores of movies and television shows during his long career.  One of the earliest was The Thing From Another World in 1951.  He even appeared in Lou Costello's last movie The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock in 1959. On television he appeared on The Addams Family, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Gunsmoke and Happy Days.  He had a part in the movie Westworld in 1973.  This is a vintage 8x10 glossy signed in his later years.  He appeared as the off duty bus driver that points out some of the sites to Aunt Bee and Andy while on the bus in the episode "The Taylor's in Hollywood."

WILLIAM LANTEAU (1922-1993) is probably best known as Mayor Chester Wanamaker on Newhart, He appeared on the TAGS episode "Stranger in Town" as the mysterious man who knows everyone in Mayberry, but no one knows him.  Lanteau also appeared in the 1963 episode of The Twilight Zone "The Bard."   He had a recurring role of Seth on The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.  He also appeared on two episodes of All in the Family.

His autograph is quite uncommon.  This is a black and white photograph part of the Maurice Scott collection.  Lanteau started to write in ballpoint when that failed, he switched to blue Sharpie.  The image is of a younger Lanteau.

IGGIE WOLFINGTON (1919-2004) was a great comic character whose real name was Ignatius Wolfington, and he was credited as such in some of his works.  He appeared in the movie PENELOPE starring Natalie Wood, and the John Belushi comedy 1941.  Among the hit shows he was on included Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Here's Lucy, The Rockford Files, Lassie, Get Smart, and many others.  In the TAGS episode "The Wedding," Wolfington plays "Mr. Watkins," the fiance of Howard Sprague's mother, played by the wonderful Mabel Albertson.   He also was on an episode of Mayberry R.F.D.   In 1975 he would be reunited with Mabel Albertson on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.   Wolfington is an uncommon autograph.

Scott, again, thank you for posting these beautiful pieces of history.

Thank you, Christopher I appreciate that so much.

This is Iggie Wolfington, as Howard Sprague's future father-in-law when Howard calls him "Dad."  Wolfington had one of those expressive faces.

COLIN MALE (1925-1996) was the announcer for 95 episodes of TAGS and appeared as an actor in one episode. My own personal way of thinking is an announcer is more of a crew member like the director than an actor.  I know others will disagree, but that is how I list him in with my own collection.  That is why I only consider him for his one acting performance on the show. Male appeared in many different shows playing small roles in most of them including one episode of Gunsmoke. He played the game warden in the TAGS episode "Andy and Helen Have Their Day" in 1964. His autograph is scarce. This is from his WWII draft registration card.

Colin Male as a Game Warden on The Andy Griffith Show.

PAUL FIX (1901-1983) to use a terrible pun he was fixture in both big screen and small screen westerns, but there was much more to this talented man.  Fix appeared in the horror classic DR CYCLOPS playing Dr. Mendoza in 1940.  He was the grandfather in THE BAD SEED.  He appeared on Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, The Wild Wild West, Lassie, Perry Mason and many others.  He is best known as "Micah" on The Rifleman.  He was on the original pilot episode of Star Trek that was later made into a two-part episode for the series.  In the TAGS episode "Barney Hosts a Summit" Paul Fix plays the owner of a mansion that Barney volunteers without his permission.   This a signed card courtesy of DWSMcGraph.
