I've bought plenty from these guys over the years.Their merchandise has always been quality stuff. Stand up Venders, too.

Lately, It's seems they're slipping a little.

If I recall correctly, this seller was discussed awhile ago in selling fake certed consignments.

Something to keep in mind

Ok.Just saw on eBay Probstein123 sold the Mantle for $94.00. Little disappointed he didn't pull it after being informed it was a forgery.

I'm more than a little disappointed. That's disturbing.

+1

He has done it before and it will happen again.

Sorry Steve. First thought that came to mind. Pretty disturbing, indeed!!

You were being kind, John. That’s A-OK.

I believe Probstein to be a credible seller and does not knowingly offer suspect material, but he relies heavily on the certification that comes with the item. I'm not certain he truly authenticates himself.

They do offer a lot of excellent, authentic items. That said, when someone provides specific info that an item was incorrectly authenticated, they could at least inquire further about that item. Some sellers believe that there's no need to do so if an item has been authenticated by a reputable TPA. I don't know if that's the case here, as they never got back to me.

I feel they don't really care, and I don't mean that as a knock about their credibility.  I have seen hundreds of their listings over the years, and I feel that they are comfortable as long as the item is accompanied by what they consider a "legitimate" coa.  Thus the mistakes with the Mantle and the Macca/Ringo.  Ultimately, we the buyers have to do our own "due diligence" with sellers like this.

I would think if someone is in the consignment business and there's a legitimate COA with the item you would take the consignment. They must have some big time consignors and would not risk the income because of an item here and there. Every major auction house and dealer have sold suspect autographs on occasion. Nobody's perfect.

I have bought many items from him in the past as well. All good, but this is so obvious, it makes him look pretty bad. I messaged him as well when I saw it. We'll see if he replies.
