looks solid to me but always appreciate the thoughts of the resident experts here.

it does look good. The period is right too, the signature matches the approx. date of the shot. If the ink and track holds up to close scrutiny, the mechanics of the signature itself is on the money.

Thank you, Woody

Daniel,

Is it a source that usually has genuine autographs, and can you buy it with regular PayPal so you can get your money back if you find there's a problem in the next few months?

We have a number of members good on Gehrig, and oh...Woody just might be one of them ;)... but the forgeries are getting better every day.

Steve,

I have dealt with the seller many times over the years.  In the past, he has fully refunded the one purchase that failed authentication (led zep full band signed album).  This one comes with jsa loa but I am losing confidence in jsa so wanted to check here with the experts here.  It is nice bold signature and I would definitely love to add it to my collection.

As always, I greatly appreciate your input and opinion.

Dan

Thanks, Daniel. You're lucky when you know great sellers like that with highly desirable autographs. Of all the professional authenticators, I think that Steve Grad is tops in vintage baseball, if you want extra peace of mind.

If real, which it sounds like it likely is, that would be an incredible addition to any collection!

Well I went to $7k and found myself coming up short with the photo selling for $7250.  I did manage to pick up a few consolation prizes though including this Ruth signed photo from Christy Walsh estate and a Maris/Mantle Signed photo

Very nice.

The Gehrig went for $7,250+ Buyer's Premium? With a signature like that, it's worth a strong premium for sure.

Yes Steve. Tack another 20% on.  I paid $2640 inclusive of buyers premium for the Ruth. Back of Ruth photo.  Clearly some condition issues  Worth investing in restoration or just conservation?

Nice piece. Fair value at least.

To me personally, that Ruth was a steal.  A tiny Babe Ruth signed cut encapsulated by PSA and not nearly as bold as your photo sold for $3161 on eBay in an auction format on June 19th.  A PSA/DNA Ruth cut framed with a photo sold for $5200 recently on eBay.  But you got a nice original photo with a bold Ruth for HALF the price of a recently-sold cut.  That’s better than a fair price...that’s a steal.  Signed checks often go for nearly triple what you got that photo for!  And I’d rather have a personalized Ruth photo than a boring check.  Of course, I’d be happy with any Ruth.  I’m really surprised you got it that cheap.

It is a steal, especially with the extra inscription on it, a lot of Ruth ink, and the subject matter of the photo being out of the ordinary (a fun, public, off-the-field in street clothes shot). Don't get me wrong, the Gehrig is awesome, but worth 3+ times the Ruth? I don't know about all that. Fantastic pickup on a very solid Ruth with enough ink for 3 Babe Ruth signatures! A+
