The Holy Grail of autographs?

I was hoping to start a thread about the modern-day "Holy Grail" of autographs. Who is that, in your opinion? Who is the person (celeb/athlete/musician) who is the hardest autograph to score, someone totally elusive? (Perhaps they didn't use to be as difficult.) And then, spinning slightly off that theme, who are the people who are not only known as "hard to get" but those who you have also had oh-so-close calls with?

Any thoughts?

perhaps but there was a conspiracy theory that had some interesting merit especially with the space age race with Nikita and JFK.

while I don't subscribe to it, I believe somewhere along the line this was one item that sent Armstrong into ballistic orbit as being part of a hoax (or maybe it was his alledged hair clippings)....

I think you're confusing it with the NASA/Mafia connection. It recently came out that Jimmy Hoffa was placed in orbit on the first space shuttle mission.

i got turned down by Bob in the late 90's I had him 1 on 1 (well 2 on 1 if you count his HUGE bodyguard) He got ot of his van, walked right at me, then right around be, all the time his bodyguard saying "Don't do it". Don't do what? i was like 19 years old, and a huge Dylan fan. He walked down and got a hot dog at a local hot dog place, I waited for him to come out and got a nod and that was it. he didn't want to sign that day and I wasn't going to push it any further. I had one of those folded Milton Glaser posters. bummer haha, still love Dylan. He signed for a couple people while in town this year, so he COULD be getting easier, a little.

there is no question that Paul still has value, despite his generous signing habits, but if you look on ebay sometime, there are several "buy it now" listings that have been there for many months, and some even a couple of years, that have inflated prices that no one wants to pay. they are asking anywhere from 1400 to over 2000. I see it more like 600 to 1000, depending on what he signed.

its funny that you mentioned the Beach Boys. They were on my "gotta have" list for years, along with the Beatles, Elvis, The Three Stooges, and many cast signed photos. I managed to get a signed photo of original group, with Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson, along with Al and Mike, on a b & w 8x10 about ten years ago. I have am constantly trying to find good exemplars to compare the Dennis and Carl to. There are very few of Dennis that I can find.

About The Beach Boys: Mike Love is supernice about signing, no problems at all. Maybe he used to be mean with fans in 1970s, but in 2014-2018 he is nice and kind.
Brian Wilson signs most of the time, but it depends on situation.
David Marks is ok.

Bruce Johnston can be grumpy sometimes, but he signs - he signed my "Pet Sounds" CD right on the stage at the end of the show.

The hardest to obtain (yes, it's pretty hard to believe) is... Al Jardine! YEs, the guy who seems to be the most friendly and down-to-earth in the entire band actually is not so friendly about signing stuff. He was kinda nervous when some fans in Paris in 2016 asked for autographs after the show (didn't sign anything). And was really angry in 2018 when some fans asked for autograph after the show in US. Seems that Al stopped signing often after the Meet and Greet thing started.

I think alot depends on your preference of what you collect. Living or dead. Thru the mail or in person.
Holy grail also could mean money or personal satisfaction. Shakespeare would probably fetch the most money, but a baseball
fan might say Babe Ruth. For me it would be Abe Lincoln, Walt Disney, maybe Bruce Lee or John L. Sullivan. Then I think about crime and justice, maybe Dillinger, Elliot Ness, or Capone,

Sorry guys. Still getting used to this. I see now, no dead guys lol.

Let me ask you guys, and since I'm not a big collector it may even be taboo.

Does anybody have anything signed by sworn US enemies? Is there a Bin Laden or Hitler autograph laying around?
I know there was a big article on the guy in New York who was pen pals with Qudafi.
