What's your opinion of who's up and who's down in music autograph prices? John brennan has been auctioning a heap of the same old stuff off month after month which barely gets mb, suprising- surprised effecting prices or not?

I looked at Julien’s results for Prince from May 2018.  There was one original photo of Prince, unsigned, that sold for almost $2000 and another original photo, unsigned, that sold for about $1100.

There were only two signed items.  One was a signed napkin that sold for $1152.  There was no picture, so I don’t know the condition of the napkin.  It may have been faded or in only fair condition overall.   I don’t know.  That $1152 is the lowest I’ve seen any Prince signed item sell for lately, especially when there are unsigned photos that can command $2k.  But again, the napkin may not have looked very desirable.

The other signed item was a signed photo that sold for over $15,000!  Again, no pics that I had access to, so I don’t know what the photo was a picture of.  Most signed photos have been going for over $5k. And some $6k to $7k at RR.

Also, just a few months ago, a Prince signed a Purple Rain poster sold for over $16,000 at RR.

I’m not trying to show you up.  This is just some of the info I’ve found.  I appreciate your posting this discussion.  It’s an interesting topic.

It seems like every celeb that is accessible is going down as he or she get hunted all over the world from semi pros looking for a fast buck. I mean Waters must have signed thousands by now and at least half of them went on ebay or other platforms. I think when you looking for good investments you have to buy or get stuff from people who are already dead or not signing a lot. Imagine what would happen to all the complete Pink Floyd Albums offered for +20.000 when Gilmour would do the same as Waters.

Gilmour will be a hunted man if he ever tours again. I just don’t think he’s going to change his habits, he’s always been a non-signer.

To be honest, if I have a relatively valuable autograph, I don’t want to learn that this celeb has suddenly become extremely accessible because that would mean my valuable autograph is going to drop like a rock in value.

All autographs are not equal…. Roger Waters was recently here in Helsinki. I got my Wall cd signed by him (and I´m very happy for it). BUT my friend who was with me got his Pink Floyd album signed by Waters and now the album is autographed by the whole band!

Maybe not confined to 2018, but U2 seems to have plummeted, though maybe leveling off and perhaps a trend reversal at some point.  Some assumed that recent touring would heighten awareness and increase demand.  The opposite happened.

Pearl jam are really flat not a great deal of interest the guys still sign and plenty to pick from. Beach boys still sign and you wouldn't bother, they just signed their 1 billion pet sounds album.

I agree with everything here. Only the truly rare will be really good investments. Maybe throw in Beatles,Stones,Jackson graphs as they are so popular. Music graphs used to be pretty rare as those guys never sold stuff or did signings. Now every venue is "graphed" and artist websites are selling stuff. Tons of music out there now.

I still think rising stars still tend to represent the best value, though I guess it's sort of the equivalent of buying small cap stocks. No one paid any attention to me last year when I was urging them to buy the Dua Lipa signed vinyl for $17 and the signed posters for $25. You can sell them for much more now and her popularity is still on the rise. Just one example of course.

Can't go wrong with my Alice cooper signed cd from jbhifi Alice is going to be huge!

Who is Dua Lipa... Sounds like a penny stock

And A Cooper will never be worth more

Going up ...

Captain Beefheart aka Don Van Vliet

Dont insult the coop!
