We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.

The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.

This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.

You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.

Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.

Try it...I think you'll like it.

It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.

I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.

So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

I respond and I am out of this thread. I have no idea what you are talking about for the first bit and that is OK. I am bored, yes. Yes, I do authenticate various types of items/artifacts as part of my living. It is in my profile.

Good luck.

Nick Dominic, nobody here would disagree that the opinions given on autographs here are always 100% certain. But neither are the opinions given by PSA DNA and other trusted 3rd party authenticators. The fact is - It's ALWAYS a guessing game. Even for experts (which there are ALOT of experts who post here). That being said, if you are dismissing these opinions and validating that educated "guessing" as a reason not to believe someone, that is NOT a smart approach to collecting autographs. You should ALWAYS be skeptical of any autograph you see that you didn't get yourself. Make comparisons to known good examples. Find out if the person did a public signing (just as Twenty One Pilots just did for Amoeba) and use your common sense and hours and hours of examining and research along with only buy from trusted sellers (which I DO trust Newbury but even they are not immune from being tricked by suppliers. Unless the band signs at one of their own stores. they are no different than anyone else in playing the trust game and are open to offering bad items).

The foo fighter post is a clear example that most here are just guessing and have no idea what they are talking about

I’m just thinking a few months ago when  someone asked whether their Signed David Grohl - Foo Fighters item was legitimate or not....as it was totally different to what it should look like...... Remember?

You Guys all chipped  in and said it was fake....without doubt a fake.....

until the person later showed that he’d actually met them all and they were indeed REAL!

Until you have definitive proof that they were signed by somebody other than the Twenty One Pilots you would have to assume they are Real!

I can’t believe people what’s been said on here! My inbox is nearly full!

I always begin with the supposition an item is fake. Then I work from there. Papers or no, same work for me. I find it effective and cautious.

you get it..my point exactly!

that guy was obviously testing everybody here and he proved a point how most here don't know what they are talking about! They are guessing! i  bet he showed actual proof of them signing the item..this is what it sounds like happened..i am not aware of that post...

Yes, he basically just asked on here a few months ago what everybody thought of The Foos Signatures, Including Dave Grohls, basically everybody said they were fake... then he posted loads photos of him with the Foos, I think they were staying in the same hotel, so he met with the Foos few times over the course of a few days and obtained all their autographs...

Ha! Awesome! Than people try to claim photoshop.. its called being in denial from being pwned

"Proof" photos are sometimes photoshopped. There is an old thread I created and could probably find showing the cast of Marvel movies signing a poster that was listed on eBay. It looked pretty convincing at first glance.

But I discovered the real source photo and the poster they signed was not what the seller was offering. It became clear that he altered the photo by digitally placing his poster over the template of the old one.

And while video footage is better to show that a person met a celebrity, it still doesn't mean the item they are offering is from that encounter.

For example, I could have 2 of the same photo. And get one of them authentically signed in person but the other i can forge. Then i offer the forgery next to the "proof" that I met them all the while not even offering the one they signed.

Man...conspiracy theory much?

Yes, the same as somebody could buy one Authentic Signed item, then replicate / sell it 50 times over.......

Only two things are guaranteed in Life - Death AND taxes.... everything else is a bit of a gamble.

I guess we pay our money and take our chances to a certain degree, it would be nice assuming all of our autographs in our collections are real, but you know the only way you know that for sure  is if you met them in person and got them yourself, so we will have to assume they are all legit not just Twenty One Pilots - But all our signatures.... until proved otherwise... Like has been  proved with Minaj (twice) Parton, Lovato, Maroon 5 To Name But a Few......

False.. not everybody pays taxes..  see the current crooks in the white house...
