Acquired these about 1992 at retail. Both came with COAs from My Favorite Players. Always thought they were authentic, but would love your opinions. Thanks!

Thank you sir. Doing all that "work" was a LOT more fun than paying for a sticker (especially with Gleason!).

OK, so the consensus is that each and every autograph sold my My Favorite Players over the years is a forgery. So how did they get away with it for so long, and how did they secure licensing from MLB?

are you more concerned about the history of MFP forgeries, or the authenticity of what you posted?  Let's assume for the sake of argument that perhaps, there exists an autograph out there that is authentic and carries a MFP COA.   That does not change the verdict on your two pieces. They are fake.  Plain and simple.

I see you are new (I neglected to say "welcome" so...welcome!). So, I thought some context might help - terrier8HOF is among those who posses a set of eyes that I truly value, and the experience that comes with them. If I need an opinion or just another set of eyes, it is his I often seek. In an area I lack knowledge in, or maybe not, I have been very comfortable taking his opinion into serious consideration.

How have the hundreds upon hundreds of kitchen-table forgers gotten away with it for so long?

How has the source of the "Florida" forgeries gotten away with it for so long?

Etc, etc, etc.

Read the below.

Hi Chester,

Welcome to Autograph Live. You’re asking reasonable questions. I imagine there are some genuine autographs with their COA, but I’ve never seen one that I thought was.

The MLB license is for rights to reprint and sell MLB photos and use their logo in certain ways. It has nothing to do with autographs.

Law enforcement rarely pursues anything in the autograph field. That’s not unique to autographs. Most collectibles are like that.

Sorry, but one doesn't even have to look at the signatures when you hear the name "MY FAVORITE PLAYERS". We call them My Favorite Forgeries PERIOD That was 1st in a line of scams by Tony "Danny Graves Disease" Podsada, one of the biggest liars and perpetrators of fraud on the autograph industry for over 35 years, IMHO. IMHO, He is an idiot of biblical proportions and has pulled that same scam at least 10 times with others certs just that I know of. And after looking at the 2 signatures you posted, they are also very very poor executed forgeries. Sorry you have to find out like this.

Yep.

Mr. Florida, from my observations over the years, has created approximately three dozen worthless and useless COAs to sell his forgeries with that "Forensic" BS!!!

I'm no expert on either signature but I've attached a photo of an authentic Mickey Mantle signature I personally received (signed in front of me) at a book signing in Houston, TX in 1985.  Adding in case you want to compare.

That's a beautiful Mantle, EJK!!!

Thanks Christopher.
