If you had to pick 1 auction house to sell music memorabilia!

What would you choose? Is there a better time of year to sell?

I have never paid insurance but yes, $15 processing fee for each lot.

In the interest of accurately representing seller costs....

While Item #11 in their standard four page contract indicates that RR Auction will carry replacement cost insurance coverage, this is done at no additional expense to the consignor.

If a consigned item doesn't quite meet the reserve the auction house can put the some of money towards that reserve so the item sell even if you don't want it too.

I have sold sports stuff at Heritage for 5% seller fee.

I am wanting to sell 2 items that already has been authenticated by BAS and REAL. I was leaning towards Heritage but RR sells more music.

Does time of year matter?

I would be shocked if u got a 5% fee from anyone for music

I agree with Marc.  If you do, you are a great negotiator!

It looks like they offer a standard three “entertainment” auctions annually, excluding special estates.  Based on total sales revenue, there does not appear to be much seasonality.

Heritage is every quarter basicly 4 times a year and its 20% commission. And they dont need u .theres a list of people trying to get stuff in there auctions. There looking for stuff valued at around 1k and up. They dont do any reserves first bid wins it. Auctions are nov  August and 2 in between. But u giving them ur stuff and not getting paid for atleast 6 months  .I'm doing stuff up to a year ahead with auction houses now .competion is ferce.

this is the buyers fee for bonhams and its pretty standard for all the real major auction houses

For all Sales categories (excluding Arms & Armor, Coins & Medals, Motor Cars, Motorcycles, and Wine & Whisky)
27.5% on the first $3,000 of the hammer price;
25% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $3,000 up to and including $400,000;
20% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $400,000 up to and including $4,000,000;
and 13.9% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $4,000,000.

if u need the money rr will get u paid quicker and u can consign  lower end stuff with shorter notice

heritage will tie your stuff up for 3 to 6 months till u get money at the minuim
