eBay Seller lburnette Offers Doors “Signed” Debut LP From Antiquities With Banned Frangipani COA
This Doors “signed” debut LP is currently for sale from eBay seller lburnette at a BIN price of $9,000. It includes COAs from Antiquities of California and Donald Frangipani, whose name appears on eBay’s list of banned COAs. In my opinion, this is not authentic and is typical of what you see from Antiquities.
There are currently no known Morrison-signed copies of the debut LP.

I called them because it was such an expensive item. I wanted to make sure I'd done everything correctly to avoid this. It was only listed yesterday. I've never listed something that expensive. I talked to them just now. They have noted that I voluntarily ended the listing. Someone did report it. I respect that. I would want someone to look after me. I would have appreciated it if you had been that person instead of posting this article making me look and feel really bad.

Those things occurred to you after you listed? OK. How did you arrive at a price? Next time research before. Lesson learned. A moment on Google would have avoided all of this. I would have wrote you as I have others, and if I did not get a response, which I usually do not, I would have written the same post as Ballroom. As you said, it was a lot of money and newbies as you called them need protecting/help buying AND selling. I think you know this now as well.

So you were mainly concerned with the value of the item and not so much the COA? You weren’t aware that eBay has a list of banned COAs? Was the COA mentioned during the call?

That is how I read it. I'm also wondering how much Laura paid for this "opportunity" w/o doing any research to protect herself. And where did the listing price come from...

The COA was mentioned and so was the name of the person who authenticated it.

Advanced collectors are a passionate group. Obviously, the seller may have been an overly trusting soul and perhaps had no malicious intentions. With that said, less than a one minute search on Google would have produced many alarm bells on this signed album, the authentication, and the company which sold it.
Sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Kudos for removing this listing.

As a seller, research is essential before listing for many reasons. Without knowing it, you listed something that could damage your reputation just because of what it was. How did you arrive at the price? It seems you did not research that either because the genuine article, if it existed, would be truly valuable...

Laura -- I've read the entire thread and I'm sorry you made the mistake of buying a forgery and are out some dough. But nowhere did Ballroom slander you -- he just pointed out the album was fake and came with a COA from someone who is banned from eBay. Your real name was never used -- just your eBay ID which anyone can see when they view the listing. Many collectors depend on this site to weed out the MANY forgeries on Ebay and other sites -- I'm sure you can appreciate that.

Laura -- I think you're taking this all wrong.
Also, if anyone DID attack you, perhaps the only reason they may have is because...usually when we alert people to forgeries, they start denying, or attacking us. Nobody is ever as reasonable as you seem to have been with this item (well, aside from you freaking out now that everyone is slandering you).
