Hello history autograph collectors, dear Herman ;-)

I highly appreciate your evaluation of this fine autograph with signatures of 5 US Presidents!

Supposedly, the Jimmy Carter autograph was obtained through the mail in 2015, the two Bush Senior and Junior also via mail in 2016. The Bill Clinton and Barack Obama signature were given on October 5th, 2017 on the occasion of a Hurricane event (cf. e.g. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2017/10/05/5...)

What do you think? Any comment is welcome!

Kind regards
Markus

Nothing strikes me as out of place

Hey Paulrichards,

wow - that's pretty good news...! Happy to hear that! Looking forward to further comments...

My best
Markus

I don’t think any are authentic. Several look way to clean to be recent signatures. Clinton’s recent signatures are much more linear without the clear letters seen in this one. Same with HW Bush.
the “O” in Obama is also much more oval than his. Don’t like the W Bush either.
Could be secretarials if TTM or flat out forgeries. Not sure if you trust the source.
Then again, I could be wrong on all accounts and they are all authentic. That’s why I always prefer in person autographs I get myself. Plus then you have a great story. Obviously not so easy anymore with Bush passing and Carter in poor health. Good luck!

Hi Ryan,

many thanks for your analysis and quite bipolar statement... At first glance, they do look good to me - although I am not specialised in US Presidents. But I agree: they seem to good to be true...

Well, in any case, as I have already bought it for a quite fair price, I will certainly keep it and adore it - as long as somebody here convinces me that it is certainly not authentic.

I trusted the source (a private collector, author of a book about autograph collecting etc.), but I am no longer really sure - as you can see here, most of my new autographs seem to be fakes...?!?

Anyhow - thanks and have a great day
Markus

PS: I fully agree that an in-person-autograph is the best source ever. This is why I - as a German citizen - have e.g. met two of our Federal Presidents (Steinmeier and Köhler) as well as Chancellor Merkel and asked them personally for their autographs. Those are 1000% authentic :-)

These look like facsimiles, which is what my first guess would be and what I believe they are. I don't see live ink in the enlargements.

live ink or not, some seems off with these

Very much so - the medium appears 1960's flat black mascara :( (w/o the white eyeliner).
