Hi, this is my first posting. I lurk a lot and enjoy the site. If you all would be so kind as to giving your opinions on this Yogi Berra, I got it on Ebay from a seller who sells thrift shop stuff mainly.

Originally I got it because it seemed like it has the possibility of being an authentic auto as the golf tournaments were something he did a good bit of. There are also a few other autos on it. Bobby Thompson being one and him and Ralph Branca did a lot of stuff together so I put that into the providence part of my decision

The Thompson one looks good to me but I'm no expert of course. The Berra doesn't look typical but I'm hopeful.

The Berra look good.

Thank you!

I think the Berra looks good too, and sounds like it comes with good provenance.

Thank you! It seemed to me that it had some provenance to it.This one is by far my favorite in my collection.

I tried the same theory again a month later and pretty sure I got taken on a 97 HOF program. Is there a place on here to post total failures?

If you go to sports at top, then go to general sports autographs, you could post something about it in there.  Or you could identify a particular HOFer and see if there’s a separate forum for him, and post it there as a warning to others.

Don’t feel bad.  The casualty count in this hobby is pretty high.  Even experienced collectors have been burned, but as you gain more experience, the odds of getting taken drop quite a bit.

Just study the signatures and post on here for opinions.  This site absolutely WILL save you money, potentially a lot of money.  My worst mistake happened about 5 or 6 years ago.  I bought a few signed photos.

The autographs were actually correct structurally.  However, I realized that the paint pen was PART OF the photo rather than the paint pen being ON TOP of the photo.  Theses copies were very well done and looked legit.  When I realized they were copies, it was too late for a refund, but I filed a complaint about the seller to eBay, and they were eventually taken down. I lost about $260.

But get this...the seller was a 20-something guy and his mother working together to defraud people!!  It’s so nice to see a mother and son bonding...NOT!! Yeah...bonding in crime!!

Thanks, I will post it there. In retrospect it was my fault, it's so obvious but I was excited and just didn't see it until I got it after 2 weeks shipping when it arrived I posted it on twitter even, still didn't see it. Then everyone was like "Fake" then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Foggle glasses got me.

I've gotten autos like that. Some are very convincing until you get them in hand under magnification.

There are plenty of scammers out there, so many.
