Hi all,

This Babe Ruth is in an autograph scrapbook with a lot of great sigs from the 1920s and 30s (letters, photos, White House cards, etc). How does it look to you all?

Best,

EJ

Hi EJ,

It’s going to be tough to help you much without seeing the piece in person.

The signature looks like it could be a copy of some sort. Without seeing this Ruth and preferably the entire scrapbook in person, it will be hard to give your reliable input.

Yes. Not only does the paper bear the snowiest white color I've ever seen for a Ruth signature, and look chronologically uncharacteristic materially, but the signature appears to be transferred to this paper magically, without any contact or lift points of the nib.

I don't care who authenticated it. If I was seeking a Ruth auto and saw this, the search would quickly resume.

Paper looks to be new, no aging around his signature for someone who’s been dead 70 years

one that needs to be examined in person

Thanks! I ended up not winning it, but both Beckett and RR Auctions gave it a thumbs up for what it’s worth.

They're both correct in that this is Ruth's track. But Ruth had nothing to do with how the track was transferred onto this material.
