Hello

I am a new member here, thanks for the approval!

Im a life long Star Trek Fan and looking to purchase a autographed piece for my home. I came upon this piece but does not have a COA.  Are these signatures authentic? I’m having a difficult time knowing. I’ve compared other signatures of Shatner and Nimoy but struggling to know. Can someone please help? I do not want to purchase it if it’s not authentic. Thank you all!

Hello, what’s the history of the signed picture? Do you know? I just met William Shatner in Houston last month as he made a rare appearance doing a signing and photo op at a sports memorabilia store. I am NO EXPERT but his signature looks off as well as Nimoy’s.

My opinion is look at Shatner’s Last name. Of the thousands of autographs I have seen from Shatner on the internet (along with mine that I witnessed), he has never missed the stroke across the “T” in Shatner. Then again maybe it’s possible someone’s signature could change as they age. My best advice is to have it sent to a reputable authenticator.

Thank you for your insight. I appreciate it! It was found at a resale store. Thanks for your helpful input.  it will help influence  my decision going forward. I’m looking to go to a Shatner event at the end of the year. Hopefully to get a photo op

I agree, Shatner does not look right to me either and Nimoy is closer but still a little off. I'd steer clear, wait and others will come up

Thoughts on this one?

If genuine very recent. My collection is from the 60's - I know Shatner has abbreviated quite a bit. Others should chime in.

Here is a link to most of my vintage set.

Agreed, this looks more like his recent signature which is a bit all over the shop

Thank you!

Neat collection, really enjoy it. Interesting to see someone’s signature change throughout the years

Yes that looks like Shatner’s recent signature.

Forgery IMO. Pass.

Shatner's every more sloppy signature has certainly contributed to the uncertainty around original Trek autographs in general, incl. among major authenticators (although Beckett seems to have a solid handle on it).  I have been a part of multiple in-depth threads on the matter.

I my opinion, the original piece sports an authentic Shatner convention sig, from at least four to five years ago, paired with a Leonard that is likely not authentic.  I especially don't like the tail end of "Nimoy."  Absolutely, I would pass as well on that basis.

The follow up Shatner posted by Star Collector is a spot on example, typical of the 2015-2018 period.  Yes, Bill's hand has deteriorated even more since.

Thank you for this helpful insight. Really means a lot. There is so much forgery out there it is difficult to know what is real or not. You all are very helpful.
