With no price guide being published in a long time, how does one go about getting their collection valued? I would love to know what my collection is worth.

Honestly it’s worth what someone is willing to pay for it. So for me, I use the values of completed eBay auctions to see what people paid for certain individuals autographs and use an average of like 10 completed sales and use that as my price guide so to speak. For some rarer autographs, you can find people that specialize in them and they would have the best idea what they are worth.

Ebay is probably the worst place to look for market value. It's too problematic. Try RR Auctions and similar trustworthy sites. Tom Kramer's site if you have vintage Hollywood. Roger Epperson's site if you have modern music. I could name others but you get the point.

Joe is correct.  Ebay is full of ridiculously priced buy it now listings.  Once in a blue moon you see a true auction that gives an idea of the real value but it is very rare.

Maybe that’s based on the type of autograph involved. I’ve spent the last 2 1/2 years on my basketball collection with values specifically based on eBay because those were genuine prices paid for certain players and their autographs. Of course I ignored the occasional $5 Buy it Now sake for a star player. Sports autographs is also more mainstream so maybe that’s why it works. Maybe for artists and other rarer autographs it doesn’t work as well but that isn’t the case for sports imo.

Unless a true deal is found, eBay is not a reliable source for anything. I have found Bowie several times under $100 and under $75 (not certified) - Gleasons also (not certified). But apart from that, when one knows what they are doing, it is a filthy dark sewer.

Good point Eric. I normally associate eBay with delusional sellers but I get bargains all the time which do not reflect the true value of an item. Case in point vintage sandy koufax signed on a Giles ball from mid sixties. 63 bucks.
