Steve Cyrkin has Brando knowledge. The inscription will be very useful.

KaiMi -  I think this one is is just fine....circa late 1980's.

I happen to know a bit of the backstory on this particular piece which I had uncovered when I began to engage in seriously studying Brando.  According to the original seller, it was inscribed on a flight that Brando was taking in the 1980's. The person who obtained it had shared a copy of USA Today with Marlon who had been looking for a newspaper to pass the time. This is a page taken from an unrelated book that that person himself happened to be reading on the flight.  Marlon inscribed the blank front free endpaper of the book when asked for an autograph.  This is that page after being removed from the book.

This piece passed from the original dedicatee to a reputable dealer. I believe it's again on the market and offered by another dealership.

It's a thicker felt tip marker that was used so some letters are not as defined as his ballpoint signatures from around this time....but it's a nice bold presentation....and of course a relative rarity.  He could be obliging with folks whom he felt had shown him a kindness.

That's probably a lot more info. than you were seeking but this is one that is a keeper.

Etienne,

thank you so very much for sharing that story!! It is very helpful and giving me confidence in its authenticity.

Brando can be an extremely difficult one to find in authentic form.  There are so many secretarials out there that have been accepted as real over the years.... as well as outright forgeries since he is a big name who commands high prices.  Even the big auction houses and the most honest of dealers have gotten him wrong over the years.

Add to that the fact that his signature varied wildly (even in the same time periods) and you can really have a challenge in separating the junk (which is most of it on the market) from the good.

KaiMi, You want to keep that one.

Thanks a lot, David!

Could you give me a short explanation what it is?

KaiMi, Just an unsigned note of Brando's….one of the exemplars I have collected over the years. I did not have to look at the signature…..I just had to find a "thank you".

Okay, I see clearly what you mean. Thanks for your support.

That's a good comparison piece that David uploaded.  "...Thank You For...." looks spot on.
