Paul McCartney will NO LONGER sign autographs

Someone sent me a story on it. He went on and on about how he looks miserable in selfies people take, and doesn't understand why his name on a piece of paper is important, as "you know who I am, I know who I am."  (Kenny Rodgers used to say the same thing).

I remember about 15 years ago, Paul refusing to take photos with people, so...he's had that stance for awhile.

Paul has every right to decide to sign autographs or not. Enjoy the music!

After enough money, eventually people forget who made them who they are. He has $1.2 billion reasons not to care.

To be fair, Paul is a nice fella.. Hes 79 now and probably signed thousands in his time.. Dont blame him.. Lets give the man a rest now

Paul made himself who he is. Besides, he's at the age where a vaccinated person with Covid-19 who catches it again is more likely to die than someone 50 or less who isn't vaccinated.

In any case, no one is obligated to sign free autographs for their fans.

not obligated but then neither are the fans to spend their hard earned money making the celebrity rich. i lose respect for celebrity’s who don’t sign for the people who make them rich and famous. it’s a fair argument and can be seen from two sides .

He’s rich and famous because of the quality of his music. He did sign for his fans, many times over many years. At 79 he’s had enough of it. It’s perfectly reasonable.

so in order to get rich and famous people have to purchase the music and ticket to shows so the fans made him rich.  if they didn’t continue to do that he wouldn’t be known and like all famous people they caught a lucky break at the right time. there’s plenty of quality musicians who never make it. what’s your point? you owe it to your fans to return the favor . i also heard he wasn’t the best signer over the years and probably true with the price his graph warrants out there because usually that price goes down of a graph for a more willing signer who signs a lot out there . not sure though on him specifically so don’t quote me on that

Even though he turned me down once for an autograph (after I paid $500 to attend his charity event), he was ALWAYS a great signer. I agree with Ballroom. He's older now, he's had enough. And the eBay dealers made it more annoying for him, I'm sure.

these rich celebrity’s shouldn’t care about others making money and trying to earn a living if others sell their autograph on ebay . it’s a joke for the celebrities who say they care about people making money off their autograph. like they need more money. cmon, your rich. who cares. you made your money. stop it

It's not just a matter of making money (and my parents say the same thing, that they shouldn't care). It's that they're forced to stand there for hours, signing, taking photos, etc. Let me give you an example of someone that did it perfect, and why you have to sometimes put the hammer down on autograph collectors. As a kid, I'd wait for autographs after San Diego Clippers games. Some signed, some didn't. Bill Walton would do this. He'd stand there for 5 minutes signing (you can surprisingly sign a lot in 5 minutes. Then he'd say, "Okay guys, I gotta go now" and as he walked to his car, he'd sign while walking (not the nicest looking signature, but he'd sign). Then he'd get to his car, and sign for five more minutes, while saying, "I'm going to leave in a minute" and usually, a few people wouldn't get it, but they couldn't get mad, because they watched him signing lots of autographs, in only 13 minutes time. And it didn't hold him up that much.
