Hi,

Elton John has made available a handful of signed art cards on his website the last few months. First was the Cold Heart single with Dua Lipa, second was the Lockdown Sessions album, and most recently the Christmas single (available on Ed Sheerans website). There are many examples of these on eBay and elsewhere. Beckett (and presumably PSA and JSA) are flagging these as unlikely to pass full authentication. People that know more than me are swearing these are the real deal. I did notice Elton seems to always loop his E, and the loop isn't present in the most common version of this signature. Having said that there are videos of him with the art card without the loop in the E.

Does anyone have an opinion on these art cards? Are they the real deal? It is marvelous to have something like this in any collection if they are real.

Does anyone think the authentication houses listed above will change their opinion on these over time?

Much appreciated for your time.

Thanks,

Danny

I think that they are genuine, and a better source than those third party authenticator's opinion is Richard Booth. Hopefully he will chime in and give us his expert opinion.

they are good. i’ve studied elton’s signature for a long time and own many examples and you can tell it is in his hand . his signature varies and has changed with his long lengthy career. even the in person and his graph changes sometimes from signature to signature at same time frame slightly.  i personally don’t like these new art cards and his new scary looking cd covers but that is just me. i like his old school full elton john signatures. To me that isn’t my elton but this is his quick rush through a billion first name at the end of his amazing career . in the end it’s still an elton first name at this point in his career. all third party authenticators go along with the others and it’s easier to say they would rather not verify than be wrong and called out on something. third party are not experts in single autographs but good overall for quick opinion. the real experts are the people who study that particular graph for a long period of time. i’d trust this site experts over any tpa! this site rocks!! thanks Steve!!! amazing job over time!!!

Elton John is not in my wheelhouse when it comes to knowing what is real or not, I mostly deal in early Hollywood. However, I could not resist the temptation when Elton offered the signed cards on his website. I went as far as renting an English mailbox so I could acquire one. I appreciate Elton’s early music and felt that my collection needed an Elton.

With that all being said I believe these art cards are authentic. A few things I think work toward the fact that these are authentic. (1) These were predominantly only offered in U.K., if these were fake why didn’t Elton just offer them worldwide?  Secretaries could have spent days just signing them and selling them to boost Elton’s numbers worldwide. Elton was essentially rewarding his fellow British. (2) Elton had downtime for a few weeks while he prepared for his surgery. During this time he was basically homebound, why not sign a few thousand? (3) Selling thousands of fakes in this day and age goes viral quickly, and it’s just not worth the bad publicity. (4) I interpret the loop at the end of his signature as the AIDS ribbon that Elton is so famous for wearing. This is something that is very dear to Elton and would only be made by him. (5) Most of the pieces failing authentication are quick opinions, these companies want you to pay the full price for the actual full rendered opinion.

Just a few points that I wanted to mention that leads me to believe the people lucky enough to get these got Authentic Elton autographs.

I can assure that Elton signed all the art cards for his own single, those with Dua Lipa and Ed Sheehan singles. 100%.

All are authentic IMO
