This all seems so stressfull, buying unseen sigs on an item no one seems sure of? In what other areas do autograph colectors buy sigs unseen on "something" apart from paid signings?

True, but these are technically free promotional items included with a purchase.. one can always turn around and sell off the cd on its own and recoop some of the cost used to obtain it. Its always a gamble at the retail level but one who's longterm benefits outweigh the cons. At least for now.. only hard-core collectors and true fans with disposable income will pay the premium to be able to hunt these down on the secondary market. Its frustrating at times with autopens and items with black ink on black background, 1 letter scribbles, and just missing out in general to the resellers.. but the game is the hunt.. and thats why we keep going.. believe me, im trying to cut down after all the bad, but big name releases bring me right back.. im going to have to report all our cards as lost, replace them so they have different numbers, and let my wife keep them all. Ill only carry cash.. it may the only way I break this addiction

I rather do that on eBay - returns are allowed, you can see the item and sigs and make your own informed assessment of authenticity, quality and value. No chance of getting a pool floatie, one letter autograph or other nonsense. It's not in stock, then sold out, then in stock...you don't have be up around the clock for an item you are umtimately unhappy with and then have to resell.
