Dylan - I've given my thoughts on your own thread on this piece. I'd say it comes down to trusting your own instincts and what you hope to accomplish with it. The point here is to hopefully assist one another when asked, not try to prove a person wrong for their thoughts and interests because they don't necessarily agree.

Precisely. To assist. Nothing more. Nothing less. I'm just startled to see interest in an autograph you can barely see, if that. Why not just wait - or seek a very nice cut?

Well, very simply because it's so cheap. Many other Frank signatures go for 500 to 1000 dollars on average. If I could find anything else cheaper than the other two prices I would consider it, but so far I haven't, and when I have they are very much so secretarial signatures.

Well, less than optimal odd shaped pencil cuts are bringing $400+. It will be interesting to see what this realizes.

Very true, the pencil cuts do sometimes go for less than the $500-1000 mark. It will be interesting to see what this piece does get to, but I am not gonna actually bid until the very last moments if it even stays within the price range I think is worth it.

Quite honestly, the "damage" to the photo is not the worst issue for me. The writing would be the deal breaker.
It looks like ballpoint pen on a glossy photo. It probably didn't look great on the day it was signed, and that inscription and signature will continue to fade if the photo is displayed.
If the writing was darker I could overlook the bends and creases.

That puzzles me too. The signature is almost invisible - faded and damaged too. If Dylan is happy that's great! :)

Yeah, this is exactly why I love this post! Every aspect is just terrible aside from not having water damage or being torn. Theres basically nothing you can do about the condition of the item or the signature to make this any better than it is now. It is what it is. I am a collector who doesn't necessarily consider resale value for my own items, but since I'm gathering a collection for my 2 year old daughter now, ive given it way more thought recently. Investment value is an important aspect to many things I buy now and im very interested in what everyone thinks about this.

It seems like the discussion of the condition of this item has been going on quite a while... I have nothing to add other than to say than it may not be as bad as the photos indicate. The glare of the raking angle and overexposure accentuates the creasing and the signature **may not** be as light as it appears.
If it was vacuum mounted to a board to flatten out the bends it may present much better. Hard to assess accurately unless you had it in hand.
It's certainly never going to be a blue chip item, but to a collector on a budget, it may be a fit. I tend to be more lenient on the condition of vintage items.

It ended at 152 and I did not want to even bid that high, so did not end up getting it. Not really a loss for me at that price.
