On August 11, 2012, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends Lovin' Spoonful will be in my hometown performing a concert. I plan on attending, and found the album Hums by The Lovin' Spoonful for sale at a local antique/record store. I've thought about the prospects of asking Steve Boone and Joe Butler autograph this album for me, and maybe John Sebastian thru the mail if he would. Does anyone know if they are fairly accessable or accomadating with autograph requests after shows? And I have never attempted to obtain a music acts autograph before, and was wondering how does one properly, and RESPECTFULLY, go about this? Just looking for any tips anyone may have.

Where are they going to be?

In the city park on August 11th.

With nobody responding, I took a chance on just hanging out back stage. Ran into Joe Butler just minutes before the show started and asked him if it was OK to ask the band for autographs after the show. He said yes it was, and pointed to a table he and his band mates would be at after the show selling CDs and pictures. The show was phenomenal, as they performed many of their hits, and a few from The Association since Jerry Yester is with the band now. I had a fantastic night and scored the autographs of Jerry and Steve on the album Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful, as well as a nice 8x10 of all the current guys.
