I purchased a script signed by Orson Welles and would like an opinion on authenticity.  His signature seems to vary a bit over the years.  This was possibly from the 1930's.

Hi,

That appears ballpoint? If so, 1930's would be impossible.

Eric

could be,  I don't have it in hand yet.  The script itself is from the 1930's I believe.  It is certainly possible that it was acquired later.

Hello again,

Who authenticated it? Who sold it?

Welles at thecead.com

Eric

it was not authenticated and was sold at auction,  I wanted to get it authenticated but wanted to get some opinions first.  It was on a script from the Paul Kohner agency.

Hi Chris,

I must ask - authentication/opinions...after buying it?

Not 1930's at any rate, one now wonders if the script is a copy or an original.

Eric

Hi again,

I see it - no returns?  $175 for a signed script? I see script is vintage. What was the BP? 20% plus 5% for doing an online transaction?

I'm not liking this.

Eric

I have no doubts about the script itself,  it does not have a great value by itself.  There is a definite connection between Paul Kohner and Welles but I can't connect him with this script.  It was performed on TV in 1951.  No returns.

impulse buy no time to research this time

I have my doubts on this one. I believe you can find a better example if you are patient.

Hi Chris, Joe,

Exactly, Joe. If genuine, there are better examples. This would be very late in date I believe. Might be genuine, but not typical from what I see. I don't like it from what I can see.

Eric
