So, as I previously posted in another thread, I had stated I am going to the H.O.F weekend in Cooperstown. Thanks to some great advice from here, I decided to try and purchase some "era correct" baseballs. Unfortunately, because I do NOT have an Unlimited budget, I was only able to get a couple of "National League" baseballs. Freeney I think his name is) I really do want Rod Carew....is it a horrible idea to have him sign one of those balls....or should I just have him sign a "modern" ball? The " Cronin" balls were selling up in the $70 dollar range.....add the signing fee....puts the cost of that ball around $150. Thoughts?. Please, bear with me. ...I'm just learning this hobby. Thank you ......Pete

I see no added value in having a modern day signature style on a vintage ball, in fact, I wouldnt even want it in my collection. If you want to get Carew in person, I would keep it on a current ball, but you can still get his vintage signature on macphail or brown balls for a reasonable price.
