Opinion on Old Yankees Baseball
Hi Everyone, I came across this old Yankees baseball and am trying to verify authenticity and what year it’s from. It seems like the very beginning year of Mantle and Yogi Berras career. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you. -Sal

these style balls are prevalant on ebay, with people trying to sell them as hand signed. if you study hand signed balls, and compare to these, you will be able to identify these for what they are in a nano-second.

And to expand on Terrier's spot on observation, there are stamped souvenir team baseballs that have been inked over with ballpoint, in an effort to give them the deceptive appearance of being hand signed.
Typically, the pre-assembled stamped covers have margins of bold relief around each signature, on most of them, no overlap of the signatures. The appearance of perfect planning, as if by one mind. That's the typical way the signatures on the stamping plate that presses the autographs onto the hide is laid out by design.
Also, because stamped prior to assembly, the printer's ink continues down into the craters of the stitch holes! If you hand sign over stitch holes, the path of the pen will be disturbed. Since the ink is already on the hide, with a stamped ball, that printer's ink is pushed into the hole when sewn and the hole itself does nothing to disturb the flow of the "signature".
