Guns N’ Roses OG Lineup Promo Ad

Hello everyone! Believe I struck gold this time around. Seems pretty era accurate as well. Sent it to roger Epperson’s Quick opinion. He Stated it was likely genuine. Just hoping it’s not a reprint, the ink seems to be darker as the lines go across. So I don’t believe it’s a preprint! I’d like to have everyone’s opinion! Thanks.

Someone gave me the heads-up that there are lots of reprints of this design being sold, in the 11x17 size like yours and other sizes. Search sold listing and I think you'll see.

Yours is printed from a pixilated low-quality JPG probably downloaded online and apparently printed on inkjet photo paper, which dates the print from the late 1990s to today.

The signatures don't look degraded so they were not on the original photo file. It's not unusual for a fan to make a copy like that and have the star or band sign it later. Whether that's the case here or not I don't know but you won't be able to tell if they're live signatures until you see it in person. They could be live signed or added to the image file before printing.

Roger is the top rare rock TPA, but you usually can't tell printed signatures from originals until you see them in person. That's beyond the scope of an online opinion.

That this was sold for $499, half or less the price of an average GnR band-signed 8x10, is a HUGE warning sign. Also that is is not authenticated by a popular TPA, because all but some common rock is almost always worth 2 to 4-times more authenticated by one, and GnR costs maybe $100 or less to authenticate. What you paid $499 for would be an easy sale at about $1,500 or more certified. The seller warns potential bidders to examine the photos closely. That's also a huge sign.

So your saying this isn’t authentic? I just bought it, however. This one is 17x11 To me, the signatures do have a slight glare. I’ve compared this to the others online, but this is the only one I found to be different from the rest. Because I was quite weary myself. After I got his quick opinion, I didn’t waste time before buying. According to the seller, this was his statement “bought this at a mom & pop thrift store. I’m not the original owner. I analyzed the autographs and I am 99% certain their authentic. The way the ink is darker when the lines cross definitely shows their not reprints. Could the greatest forger ever done them? Possibly. but I wouldn’t risk my eBay rep if I thought they were fakes. Definitely not a reprint. I really wish I had a COA but I’m sure if you went to get it authenticated it would pass their inspection.”

I'm saying there's a great chance it is not real. And the "mom and pop thrift store" line is another big warning sign.

Online opinions are limited in value since they aren't looking at it in person.

You can still get a refund through PayPal or eBay if it turns out it's likely not real. PayPal guarantees it for six months.

Ask the seller why they didn't get it authenticated.

I'd be concerned...what is the return policy? I don't buy on the strength of a Quick Opinion. I do my own research and homework. It is the fun of the hobby otherwise you are just buying a list of names and the opinions of others. I'd rather spend my time and money on more autographs. Ultimately it saves money and time.

It is my opinion things like preprints, reprints, poor forgeries, facsimiles and the like are to be ruled out by the collector before a Quick Opinion is sought, which by its very nature has its limitations as Steve mentioned. I also believe I am in the minority.

I was mistaken. It originally sold for a BO price of $300. It was subsequently relisted under a different title and sold four days later for a BO price of $375. I wonder why the $300 sale wasn’t completed.

He seller held the item until that following weekend for me. I offered to pay more. I bought it for that price. This was our transaction yes.
