Authenticity is Everything
Gifted a possible fake Manning autograph
Seems to me that its a fake. The captain stars do match the supposed Superbowl number (it is claimed to be a Superbowl jersey), the super bowl patch appears to have been added by the looks of the poor stitch job. The authenticator has misspelled name of a novel authenticator "Premier Collectables, Minneapolis, MN" rather than "Premiere Collectables "of Minneapolis, MN (who appears to only be involved in novels by their website). There is no hologram matching the COA to the jersey. The signature itself looks to have three pauses with the pen on the "y" and the "t". There looks to be similarities to another Manning autograph that I have, but I am definitely no expert and am looking for some advice/opinions. I may be over evaluating, i don't know. Would it be worth my money to send it to a third party authenticator?

Yikes. Very bad.
My suggestion is
A. Get Your Money Back by Opening a Case.
B. Send in a jersey of your own to the Denver Broncos and ask for a signature from Peyton. He is very good when it comes to signing in person and through the mail. Even if he can't sign(doubt it), he always sends the item back so it's worth it.
Just send it to the Broncos address.

I have never tried to mail in for an autograph, how does that work exactly? I have heard of people doing it but I figured if it were likely to happen, every athlete would spend most of their time signing things and not getting paid to do signing sessions.

Peyton is very very good to his fans and always has known to be. He only does one per person, and when he's too busy he just sends a preprint back, but that's rare.
He will have a first round bye after next Sunday so now might be a good time to send in.

What you would do for a jersey is place it in a bubble mailer and address it to the broncos facility. Inside that envelope, address a prepaid stamped envelope to yourself from the Broncos. Add a sharpie of your choice and always write a very nice and polite hand written letter to the athlete/celebrity(doesn't hurt to do a bit of buttering up).

I've mailed Peyton 5-6 times and had 2 successes. I had 3 failures in a row before I had a success. After season it is best to send it to his foundation in Indianapolis with CASH donation.
At the beginning of the season he seems to sign quite a bit through Broncos facility. It really is hit or miss though. But you do usually get your stuff back even if unsigned.

I've been 2 for 2 this season. A photo during preseason and just got my mini helmet back a couple weeks ago.

I spoke to a guy at Steiner a few months ago when I was considering mailing a picture in for a signature during one of their signings. He said he wasn't sure if he still signed Colts items, is he serious?
