Lawrence Taylor was, arguably, the greatest defensive player ever to play in the National Football League. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999, and was the driving force behind 2 Super Bowl championships for the Giants in Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV. I wrote to Mr. Taylor in July of 2011, and received his autograph in January of 2012. I shared an image of my autographed 1987 Topps card in the Through the Mail forum and a few people called it in to question, which I had no problem with. I finally decided to send it to the National Sports Collectors Convention to have PSA/DNA to take a look at it, and it was determined that my autographed 1987 Topps card of the great Lawrence Taylor was authentic. I understand that my Lawrence Taylor autograph looks much different from many other authenticated pieces, so I would like for this discussion to showcase other Lawrence Taylor autographs that many of you may have. Have fun with it, and let's see what we can learn.

Thanks for posting, Harry. I like your LT. To me, in my opinion, the "A-Y-L" looks pretty spot on with mine. However, you have more "O-R" than me, probably because this was a paid request, not rushed, going to charity, etc. The big swoosh at the beginning looks different from mine, and appears to be the only thing that he has changed.

Here is a full size helmet I got from him at a MAB show in New Jersey in June of 2009

I see that, Harry. I figured that the "L" was crossed on my card because maybe the card is smaller and has less room, so he just went across whatever was there. Other PSA authenticated cards I've seen online have this same style - the "L" is crossed.

Thanks for sharing, Brian. Nice helmet you have. Beautiful.

Thanks, it has his style of facemask on it also, it is one of my favorites.

Harry, what do you think about the possibility of a "quick sig"? I know after signing dozens and dozens of court documents at work all day, I taper off my signature at the end of the day on things that aren't official, such as my daily checklists, caseload counts, receipts, etc.

And I respect your opinion, evidence, everything. I just wish I knew who and what Joe Orlando used to authenticate my LT autograph. That would answer a lot of questions that people have had with this issue. As for me, since PSA/DNA is the standard, I believe it's legit. But like you said, it was not signed in front of me, so I can't 100% say for sure. This debate is great, I think. Hope to see more.
