Wow--this sat for two months. Al Jolson signed photos are scarce if not rare. A number of them come up for sale every year. Depending on size, condition, photo and autograph, most range from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Your 5x7 might…

Wilson used a stamp as Gov., but as President and after his stroke he signed all letters and documents personally. The stroke affected the appearance of his signature - mostly a very shaky writing.

Steve Cyrkin replied to B Garrett Meadows's discussion 'Which is the most scarce presidential signature?' in the group U.S. Presidential Autographs
The other really short-term presidents were James A. Garfield, who was assassinated after about 6 months in office, and Zachary Taylor, who got sick and died less than a year and a half in office. Their signatures are rare compared to other…

I'm not remotely surprised by the price that the Lincoln-signed photo fetched. I guess Lincoln can be credited with establishing the practice of signing photos for fans. Thank you for your reply.

The answers to your questions are no, no, no. You can collect every president, but because William Henry Harrison caught pneumonia and died a month after his inauguration, his autograph as president is extremely rare and expensive. But you can buy a…

To my limited knowledge, I have never know there to be any furor for a Franklin Pierce signature or Millard Fillmore signature. I guess there are those presidents who just don't create much excitement in the signature collecting world.

I've read that Al Jolson didn't sign a lot of autographs. And that many of his autographed materials are, in fact, secretarial. Is it true that there are no signed photos of Jolson in blackface?See More

Until reading this blog, I had no idea such a gimmick existed: getting a notable to sign a blank sheet of paper, then manipulating it with photo of the signer. Good grief, why do people want to undermine the integrity of signed-photos?

Before he died, Frank Sinatra did a CD of duets with more contemporary singers performing some of his standards. I later found out all he did was lay down his track of the song, then the contemporary singer recorded his/her track, and the two…
