I recently lost an auction for a RS signed item and couldn't resist buying instead a signed promo card (from Dec 1963) from Tracks. I got it for 1.6k pounds. What do you think , did I overpay for the item ? I have seen some more examples of these promo cards, anyone can shed some light as to why there are so many popping up recently ?

All signed including Brian Jones...

I'd say you did quite well... congrats

Great one. They will certainly hold value and can only increase.

I got one myself with Jones and Wyman on the front and the others at the back.

care to post some pics? do you the history of the signed promo cards? Were they pre signed at the Stones offices and later handed out to fans?

doy ou think some could be secretarial sigs?

Sure, here it is.

About the history of my item: these were signed for a girl after a concert, I would have to look for some more details.

thanks well the Stones is not my field so I am not sure if I overpaid for the item. I dont even know what are the most sought Stones collectibles out there? pre 65 / 70 or 70s era signed items

If you look at the past auctions on rrauction you can see a couple of these sold the last years. Some even going for way higher, but also depends on condition. I think yours is not in near mint condition (but certainly very good with nice signatures) but it certainly has the value that you paid. You can’t go wrong with a full set including Jones.

there is also a current all signed w/ Jones on RR now. Have a look see for final price. But remember its in USD and to add 22.5% bidder's fee on top

also a dumb question but why some of the English musicians of the time signed with an xxx below their sigs. I have seen that in Hendrix / RS / Beatles sigs before

That means "kisses".

yup  so assume it was signed for a girl

Great genuine item, good price too. In answer to your question about kisses, many of the UK based artists were much more accessible to female autograph hunters after the gigs, particularly when there were several bands on in one night such as the Marquee in London. These cards were signed for the Decca pr department and sent out with press releases and when they were plugging singles but also for some lucky fans that wrote in. Later when they broke big, these were replaced with pre-printed cards. Hang on as long as you can...

thank you for your valuable feedback, its much appreciated
