Not sure why a 007 group wasn't created before, but I'm glad it's finally here! Why not get the ball rolling with the greatest Bond of all, Sean Connery...just wondering if this might be an actual one of his? Thanks!

spear fishing Connery  definitely not authentic

I'm not sure about the second example (tux n gun)

Thank you, goodcat.  I had some doubts about the spearfishing one.  There's more writing to go by in the gun and tux photo but I'm just not well versed in Connery's handwriting.  I'll be interested to hear what others think.  Thanks again for weighing in!

you are most welcome and hopefully someone can comment on the tux n gun sig for you

Hey mate, Welcome!

Im with Goodcat, the spearfishing one is close, but there are few issues with it that would stop me personally from buying it.

My feeling is that the tux and gun pic, whilst also close, is a secretarial. It has the characteristics of autographs that were sent out through the mail for a time.

As you mention though, Connery is so widely forged and tricky- its never a finite art, so hopefully some others can chime in too.

Good luck, and if theres some others your thinking about post them too.

Thanks, TQ.  I really appreciate your help with this.  And thanks also for sharing your superb signature study on Mr. Connery.  By far, it's the best resource I've ever come across for authenticating this tricky autograph.  Cheers!

Thanks Gregory, glad to be able to help!

This discussion started out with a 'charity' signed Connery autograph...

Folks, have a look at these items currently on sale on the bay at the moment. All appear to be in the style of the 'charity' autographs.(my attachment)

Is it just me or are all these signed by the same person... Any thoughts anyone?

Interestingly they all come from different sellers. The only one I have been able to track back to original dealer came from Pieces of the Past inc.

Also, a bunch of secretarial Connery's just sold... Please be careful with any Connery autograph that has 'WITH ALL MY BEST WISHES' (or similar) in capitals.

Can I just add that I doubt the someone I am speaking is any way shape or form Scottish...

Thats a fantastic vintage auto posterguy. Congrats!

certainly does look like the same hand, TQ

But I don't think they resemble "charity" sigs at all. Far to scrunched together and not clearly defined letters

My guess is there are people who do forgeries of certain celebs and sell them to others for resale. I see so many examples that look the same from different sellers.

This forgery business astounds me how big it is and still growing

The Connery's are getting tougher to figure out. Might be best to stay with books, cheques and documents for ease of mind

He's 87 and not signing so the prices will shoot up in time

Yeah I think in my naivety I always assumed that individual dealers created their forgeries... but when you think about it this wouldnt make sense. If a questionable dealer has a relationship with a forger, they could literally request 2,3,20 items from that person for a reasonable sum of money. The fact that the dealer then receives them from their 'star chaser' (forger) gives them plausible deniability if ever questioned about authenticity ("oh i got it from my best star chaser")  and the forger is obviously happy because they have gotten their business. I dont think I ever realised that the forgery industry is literally an 'industry' with the same forgers supplying multiple dealers.

But yep- looks like we have a new 'hand' in town as these seem to be popping up all over the place.

And I agree, at this point Id be sticking to books, documents and the vintage stuff.
