Authenticity is Everything
When is it appropriate to sell?
With the passing of Burt Reynolds today it brought up a thought. When is it appropriate to sell after someone passes? On a FB group I am in that I thought was actual collectors. I now believe it is mostly resellers, the ones that push the true collectors out of the way to get there 10 items signed, on the page. Anyway within the hour of the announcement they had Burt for sale. It was the same with Aretha. They made it a point to say it had been voted on that it was ok and if you don't agree, they will kick you out. Of course dealers would say that but what about collectors. I myself find it disrespectful and wouldn't buy or sell the day they passed just to make a buck. I respect all opinions either side, just looking for thoughts.

I find it amazing how many people have no interest in a particular signature until the person passes.

Eh. Call it what it is- cashing in. Flipping graphs is a business. It may not be in the best possible taste but it's a reality of the hobby.
